How to declutter:

Step 1 - Be brutally honest with yourself. 😅
No, you’re not suddenly going to become a calligraphy artist.
No, that mug from 2012 isn’t “sentimental.”
And no, you don’t need 47 empty boxes in case you "ship something someday." 📦🙃

Sometimes you’ve just gotta channel your inner savage declutter coach (hi 👋) and say what needs to be said.

Which one of these are you most guilty of? Be honest 👀⬇️

We hold onto things way longer than we need to. And it's almost never really about the stuff.

From the outside it looks like clutter. But underneath it is something much deeper.
Our subconscious has a reason for every single thing we keep. And once you
understand it, letting go finally starts to feel possible.

Here is why we hold on:
1. It holds a memory. Letting go feels like losing the person or moment attached to it.
2. The just in case fear. Your brain wants to stay prepared. Even when that case never comes.
3. You spent money on it. So it stays. Even unused. Even unwanted.
4. You are too tired to decide. When you are already overwhelmed, avoiding the decision feels easier.
5. It is tied to who you were. You are not holding the item, you are holding a version of yourself.
6. Unfinished intentions. Projects you meant to start. Things you planned to fix. Open loops that never closed.
7. Fear of regret. What if you need it later? So your brain picks the safest option and keeps it.
8. Familiarity feels safe. Even clutter can feel comforting because it is known. Letting go brings uncertainty.

Once you see the why behind it, letting go stops feeling like loss.
It starts feeling like freedom.

One of the quickest ways to decide if something stays or goes?

The Spontaneous Combustion Rule.

Ask yourself: if this item suddenly disappeared, would you actually replace it?
Not could you. Not should you. Would you?

If the answer is no, that right there tells you everything you need to know.

Your home only has so much space. Make sure everything in it earns its spot.

Try it on one drawer today and let me know what you find.

People don't realize how much impact clutter actually has on their mental health.

It's not just mess. It's visual noise your brain is processing every single day without a break.

Too much stuff. Too many decisions. Too much to look at.

And you wonder why you feel exhausted before the day even starts.

I didn't declutter to have a pretty home. I decluttered because I was tired of feeling like I couldn't breathe in my own space.

Letting go of what overstimulated me gave me more patience, more calm and honestly more joy than I expected.

If your home feels heavy, it might not be you. It might be everything around you asking for your attention all at once.

Your space should restore you. Not drain you.

Here are my 5 non-negotiable rules that keep my home calm, clutter-free, and easy to maintain, even on the busiest weeks:

1. No “maybe” piles.
If something isn’t a clear yes, I don’t keep it. Not because I’m ruthless… but because the “maybes” are what drain your space the fastest.

2. Simple beats perfect every time.
I don’t color-code, alphabetize spices, or create complicated systems. If it’s hard to maintain, it won’t last, so I keep everything simple and practical.

3. I choose honesty over guilt.
Gifts I don’t use, things I overspent on, items I “should” love… none of them stay just because I feel bad. If it doesn’t support my life now, it goes.

4. My home follows my flow.
Every family moves differently. Every home needs different systems. I build setups that work for our real routines… not Pinterest’s.

5. Ten minutes is enough.
I never wait for a full free day (spoiler: it never comes). I declutter in small, doable blocks so I stay consistent without burning out.

Decluttering doesn’t have to take forever. It doesn’t have to be emotional chaos. And it definitely doesn’t have to be perfect.
It just has to work for you.

If you want a simple system you can follow room-by-room, my new e-book walks you through everything in the easiest way possible.

It’s literally changing the way so many women feel in their homes.

This is my passion 💛

Helping you go from feeling overwhelmed…
to finally seeing life again—not just in your home, but in your heart and mind.

Because clutter isn’t just about stuff.
It’s the mental load.
The frustration.
The feeling of being stuck.

And I see it every day.

My clients don’t just get an organized space—
they get relief, clarity, and control back.

✨ No more shame
✨ No more rebuying things you already own
✨ No more walking into rooms that feel heavy

If you’re craving that kind of freedom… don’t wait.

👉 Schedule your free consultation today
and take advantage of our Mother’s Day special 💐

Because almost every client tells me the same thing after their first session:

“I wish I would’ve done this sooner.”

The cost of doing nothing?

Staying stuck.
Same clutter.
Same stress.
Same cycle.

Or…

You decide who you want to be—and go after it.

You don’t have to do this alone 💛

Cheers to getting organized,
Nichole

Letting go is easy sometimes. And other times it feels absolutely impossible.

So here are the 5 questions I ask myself when I'm stuck. And at the end there's one phrase that completely changed how I think about this whole thing.

One. Have I used this in the past month? If not, why am I still keeping it?
Two. Would my life actually be different without it? Does it serve me right now or is it just sitting there?
Three. Have I outgrown this? Sometimes we hold onto things from a version of ourselves that doesn't exist anymore.
Four. Am I living in the present or clinging to the past? This one hits hard but it's real.
Five. What purpose does this actually serve? Is it useful? Meaningful? Or is it just clutter at this point?

And when I'm really stuck on something, here's what I ask myself. If this item was covered in dust or horribly stained, how hard would I work to keep it? Be honest. Would you even bother saving it?

Most of the time the answer is no. And that tells you everything you need to know.
So next time you're struggling with something, try that last question. I promise it helps.

What's the hardest thing you've ever had to let go of? Tell me in the comments.
