Last week the US DOE hosted the Global Clean Energy Action Forum brining 6,000 people to join energy leaders from across the world to Pittsburgh. By the end, GCEAF countries pledged $94 Billion in clean energy technology demonstration funds.

To kick off the conference, many of those leaders joined us at "Larger Than Light" - an amazing event hosted by Duquesne Light Company and the EIC. Clean energy companies gathered to educate, network, eat delicious food, and even watch DLC's new electric F-150 power an induction stove for some traditional Pittsburgh tailgate fare. Thank you to all who attended!

The EIC is proud to host The JASON Project conference today in Innovation Hall.

The JASON Project, a nonprofit that supports people in need of assistance navigating the court system, is preparing – with support from Point Park University – to make its services more widely available to Pittsburgh-area residents.

The JASON Project, which stands for Judicial Assistance Serving Our Neighborhoods, is part of Vision Enterprises Legal Research LLC and is run by Mark Thompson.

The EIC was please to host Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation with a group of 10th-12th graders this week.

The students met with Readiness Institute at Penn State and UPMC to talk about career opportunities, and had a special workshop with Artist Cory Bonnet to explore Patterns of Meaning.

Really Big Faces - Join us for the Closing Celebration as we continue to honor the beauty and diversity of our Pittsburgh community!

The exhibition closes on Friday, July 8, with a free celebration from 6 to 10 p.m. in the main hallway and Covestro Brightspace Room. Mosser will unveil three new portraits at the event: DJ Kinetik (Blake Kinetik), photographer Jill Farrar and Mayor Ed Gainey.

Artist Tom Mosser painted more than 80 5-foot-tall portraits of Pittsburghers. See the Really Big Faces Exhibition before it leaves July 8.

"A local coalition including the Green Building Alliance, the Pittsburgh Department of City Planning, the Energy Innovation Center and Duquesne Light Co. has received a technical assistance grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to assess “environmentally compromised vacant lots of public land” in the Hill for possible clean energy projects."

The pilot program includes help to create a neighborhood-wide clean energy plan and assistance in making older homes more energy-efficient.

Groups including the Green Building Alliance recently received a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy that will allow them to bring in technical experts to help determine which vacant plots of land in the Hill District could be repurposed to generate renewable energy for nearby residents.

Josh Pollard is the President and CEO of Omicelo, a mission-driven, real estate investment company. In addition to founding Omicelo, he also founded its sister company, Omicelo Cares, who's mission is to "co-power" existing community members in low to moderate income neighborhoods to own financial assets, grow their businesses, and lift their incomes.

First up, Chef Claudy M. Pierre owner of both The EAT Initiative and Eminent Hospitality Solutions. Chef Claudy works tirelessly to combat food insecurity in our community. He also cooks up delicious cuisine for event catering, and for Eminent’s EIC café located on the first floor of our building.
