Hey! The world is a dumpster fire. So here’s a little March Gladness (you can thank my dad, the pun-master, for the name): this Monday March 14, at the Pantry, I’m making 100 or so to-go meals of vegan spaghetti arrabiata bolognese, *free* for pickup at 5 pm. With the money you would have spent on dinner, donate to your favorite nonprofit (give a shout if you’d like some of our favorites). Or, if you’re low on funds or just having a bummer of a time, let a nice little meal cheer you up.
See you Monday at 5. Obviously these will go quickly, so sit this one out if you can’t be here right around 5. No savesies for later or modifications (spicy + wheat + soy oh boy).
Probably a limit of 2 per person, will adjust this post when we’ve got that sorted.

As usual, Grandmom Sybil is the standard for Jewish comfort foods, and I just want to make her proud always. Thanks to dad for always being my non-vegan taste tester when it comes to Grandmom’s “dupes,” and to mom who eats her soups scalding (“Jewish lady hot,” as we say in the business).

Right before the pandemic, we made a dreamy crispy salt-roasted golden beet entree. Lately we’ve been going hard on our *crab* cake since we’re so happy with the updated recipe. We figured we’d merge two faves tonight: a salt-roasted golden beet cake, cooked with onions and garlic and lots of fresh herbs and coated with crispy panko, served with a preserved lemon, pea and basil sauce, and black rice risotto.
