Sledders-

When the snow is good closer to home and the state of WI- and you wanted to do that trip of a lifetime and ride from your front door to the Northwoods and not have to grind across urban sprawl to cross the WI River? This addresses that.

Over $1,000,000 from the WI Snowmobile fund and some SERIOUS volunteer legwork has been going into this project- construction starts this year.

The Dane County Council Snowmobile Clubs is seeking some assistance about this project.

It can be done via email. Please check their post out- and simply send an email to the specified address to show your support. The new trail system needs to be crushed aggregate and not asphalt. Snowmobiles need to be allowed full access to the trail when conditions permit. Please help this cause- when the snow conditions arrive- and they always have in some shape or form- this amenity will be a huge help with allowing access between Dane and Sauk counties.

Please take the time to review and comment on the plans for our sister trail the Walking Iron trail in Dane country. The proposed improvements include conversion of the existing railbed to a 10-ft paved or aggregate multi-use trail, reconstruction of 7 existing bridges, and existing parking lot trailhead improvements.

Comments are due before May 7. If you have preference on the surface type that you would like for this trail this is your opportunity to be heard.

Some very important behind the scenes work is being done.

This is for a bipartisan bill that will allow RTP (Recreational Trails Program) to be more accessible for infrastructure. Definitely worth a read! RTP has helped TC and thousands of other organizations enrich their trail systems nationwide.

WASHINGTON โ€” U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and James Risch (R-ID) introduced bipartisan legislation to improve the Recreational Trails Program (RTP) by increasing the transparency and ensuring the accountability of its funding program. Since 1991, the Recreational Trails Program has provi...
