It’s , which is not just a hashtag but a movement to raise awareness for our pollinators, of which we owe so much of what we have. I am grateful for always finding bees in our yard (and I take a lot of photos of them 😅), which I hear is a lot more rare these days. Habitat loss, increased pesticide usage and global warming are all factors in their decline.

Please consider your native bee population when planting and preparing your yards. Plant what they love. Create a healthy soil ecosystem to reduce pesticide use, and remember that gardens don’t need to appear perfectly landscaped to be beautiful. Then, the bees will come!

Took some time to process the last few days of bloom filled events. This is a big and heavy time of year, with weddings in full swing and a flower centric holiday in-between.

I’ve known Christa of for some years, as both a flower and Patchogue friend. She has a way about her that provides instant ease, and her calm, yet steadfast determination to see dreams to fruition is truly contagious.

Flowers for me, are not just my job—I associate them with all the important moments and people in my life. The same goes for Christa, and we often chat about her garden, and her property. She was one of my earliest cheerleaders when I started my business.

Providing blooms for the first Angel Baby Gala at was an honor. A celebration of moms and their families that have endured the most unimaginable heartbreak, yet continue to find ways to remember and celebrate.

And in true angel baby fashion, it was not without the sweet signs that always show up when least expected. Thank you Christa, for all you do.

Without a doubt, my flower bar style is pulled from European flower shops: the ones you find in old cities, that line the sidewalk with blooms of the day. Antique crates, baskets, galvanized buckets, simple jam-jars—and overflow them with blooms.

Last weekend we volunteered with to help clean Tuthill’s Creek, which feeds the lake we live across from and reaches as far as north of Sunrise Highway.

We spent most of our time south of West Lake, and amongst the trash we did find some treasure—including this fully intact Welz & Zerweck Brewers bottle from Brooklyn, which operated between 1883 and 1920!

An incredibly cool find as a treasure hunter, and a perfect specimen for showing off some of the daffodils currently in bloom here!

Hi friends!

I wrote a lil’ blog post (well, maybe not that little)! If you care to read, follow the link in my bio or head to my website ‘field notes’! I’ve been around this industry for a pretty long time, and literally started in event florals months before the 2008 recession was declared.

I don’t want to pretend the world is sunshine and roses right now. Many of us in small business expected rapid changes this year and have needed to adjust accordingly, many times over. I want to offer hope and perspective and thought I’d start off with a bit of history.

The wedding industry as we know it today was born almost 18 years ago out of a crippling financial crisis that changed trajectories for so many—some pains are still felt to this day. The way we navigated those early days was a baseline for how we approach event designing and planning today, and all the inspiration and trends you see on a much more rapid pace.

As always, I’m here for a chat or discussion, whether you are getting married in a year or 2, or anther fellow vendor! I’ll add more thoughts as time goes on, too.
