We’re heartbroken to hear that Nirvana Coffee & Games will be closing its doors. Nirvana has been so much more than a place for us to host trivia, music bingo, and karaoke. It’s been a gathering place where people found their people, made memories, and felt at home.
We’re grateful to the Nirvana team for welcoming Crit and Ale into the community and for all the nights we’ve shared with you. To everyone who has played along, sung a song, cheered on a team, or simply spent time with us there: thank you. You helped make those nights special.
We also want our community to know that we’re looking for a new home for our programs so they can remain accessible to the people who have built this community with us. We’re working toward keeping them alive right here in Independence, and we’ll share an update as soon as we have a solid plan in place.
Until then, we’ll keep celebrating with you through Nirvana’s final weeks. If this place has been part of your story, we hope you’ll stop by, show the team some love, and make a few more memories before the doors close on November 14.
Good afternoon, friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we must inform you that we will be closing our doors at Nirvana Coffee & Games. Our last day of business will be Saturday, November 14th. This is not a decision that was made lightly, nor was it an easy one.
We knew when we assumed ownership of Nirvana nearly three years ago that it would not be a simple undertaking. Owning a small business is a challenging endeavor, regardless of the circumstances, but it has felt particularly difficult in recent times.
We understand the role that Nirvana has played in the community and are devastated that we find ourselves no longer able to fulfill that duty. The last thing we want is to displace our patrons from a space where they feel welcome without giving them ample time to find their next home away from home. Nor do we want to deprive any of our patrons of the opportunity to say goodbye.
Therefore, we shall continue to uphold the spirit of Nirvana to the letter throughout this final month, and we hope folks will continue to come together and celebrate everything that has made Nirvana so special over the years. We will maintain our regular events up until the very end. We have also moved our Halloween Party back to Nirvana and adjusted ticketing in the hope of giving everyone an opportunity to celebrate with us one last time.
Thank you all so much for the wonderful experiences and memories. It's true what they say: all good things must come to an end. That's why they're called good things—otherwise, they'd just be ordinary. And this time with you all has been far from ordinary.
