The Gift
( Life Hiding in Plain Sight )

Let us dwell upon the flower, incomparable in all of it's majesty and beauty. In it's journey to please the eye and heal the spirit, the flower must come forth through the seed and the soil, bursting through as a baby seedling. Then with care from the gardener, sunshine, water, and food will one day blossom as if to shout, I am here in all colors imaginable. Shapes and sizes to please the many. For such a short while, look at me, for one day I shall return to seed and become again what God has destined for me.

Come and listen for I have many lessons to teach. God has proclaimed that whatever is sown, as in life, shall be reaped.

God tells us of the tiny mustard seed, when sown with faith, becomes great, such as The Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus had an answer for worry when he said, consider the lilies of the field, for they do not toil not spin yet Solomon in all of his glory was not so adorned.

God illustrates life through the flowers. Do not just pass them by, give them the respect that they deserve, for in reverence to God, you may become wise.

We do so need the flowers and the plants, and the food that they provide. So much so, that when God had finished creating the Earth, in great anticipation of the wondrous event of the creation of mankind, God formed with his glorious hand, all of the Earth's vegetation. Not least among creation was gifted to all mankind... The humble flower, to be cherished for all time.

By Mary Ann Galletta-Stevens

Then Jesus asked, "What is the Kingdom of God like? What shall I compare it to? It is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds perched in it's branches."
- Luke 13:18-19.

Jesus says, "Consider the lilies of the field how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all of his glory was not arrayed like one of these."
- Matthew 6:29.

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap.
- Galatians 6:7.

Humility and the Farmer

There once lived a farmer who lived a humble life. He was gifted to grow beautiful flowers. To do so was his right.

The people would marvel at his handiwork and would pay him what he needed to support the high cost of raising his crops. This humble farmer was blessed, and those he served were blessed.

As time went by, inflation ruled the land, and its people. The people endured the high cost of living but became angry. When it was time to pay the humble farmer, his loyal patrons understood. They paid the cost and lovingly told the humble farmer how much he was appreciated. Yet, sadly, some burdened and tired of paying inflated prices complained that the Farmer may not be worth his wages. Little did they know that, in keeping his prices lower out of compassion he could hardly draw any wages at all.

The humble farmer said, in despair, "Another season of hard work for nothing." He realized that he must cut his crops down to serve his loyal customers and that the customers who withdrew their patronage until they received lower prices, may have to do without. Sadly, he remarked, " I cannot live on nothing." Then the humble farmer found consolation in the fact that no longer would he have to endure sleepless nights of hard work, for he would often wake up in the middle of the night to work, for he could not afford help. He rejoiced to be able to spend more time with his family, but was saddened to spend less time doing what he loved. All in all, the humble farmer was poor, but blessed.

The following year inflation caused many to again raise their prices, according to their needs, and the people had to pay. The humble farmer's loyal patrons, full of appreciation for his hard work and sacrifice were served, and we're blessed by the humble farmer who worked at a job he loved, and was happy but was unable to live as he deserved.

Finally, God looked down from Heaven upon the humble farmer and said, "Rejoice, my humble servant, for one day you shall be rewarded, for in Heaven awaits a mansion that will last for eternity, for I have seen your hard work, your fairness, and your compassion. In hearing this, the humble farmer was truly happy and blessed.

In the end, everyone reaped just as they had sowed, and, those blessed ones rejoiced in the reward that they alone owned.

In my Father's house are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. - John 14:2.

No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him. - I Corinthians 2:9

Dedicated to my son, Matthew Joseph Stevens, head and only grower at Galletta's Greenhouse.

Much love and appreciation to our loyal customers who have helped us pay for our plants, supplies, and fuel.

We love you, God bless.

Head grower Matt wants the customers to know that so much is blooming beautifully of late, and right now is the best time to get your hanging baskets, packed and potted flowers! Don't wait for the blooms to go away or for that one perfect one for your place to sell out! Also the veggies and gardening plants, despite a late start, are coming along as well! As always, support your local, family operated small businesses, and the smaller they are, the more they need it! See you soon!

A happy blessed Spring to one and all from everyone at Galletta's Greenhouse!

We have all had a hard, cold, and snowy winter (which sadly -- as seen in a picture below -- included some collapsed roofs on some of our older structures that delayed some of our crops), but we are looking forward to a hopefully lovely Summer!

The beautiful colors and varieties of flowers at Galletta's can cheer you and add joy to the season. This Memorial Weekend is the time to remember those we have lost and loved, and especially those who have sacrificed for our country and freedoms

We hope to see you all this year at Galletta's, where we work hard to give you the highest quality payments at the fairest prices we possibly can.

Sincerely,
Mary Galletta Stevens

As our late founder John J. Galletta used to call it, it's time for a "Summer Daze" 50% Sale at Galletta's Greenhouse!

Yep, 50% off all of our Annuals, including HUGE hanging baskets to help that midsummer spruce up around your home and yard (which head grower Matt Stevens always says is WAY too much of a steal in those biggest baskets!). As you can see from the pictures, we still have a ton of stuff, including huge vegetable plants that are pretty much an instant garden at this point. As usual it seems, we grow too much, so our overestimation is once again your gain!

Located in the Town of Oswego, just off of West 5th Street and a hop-skip outside of Minetto, NY! Support your local family-run small businesses and give a late season beautification your home for a great price today!

A reminder: We still have a massive selection of vegetable plants, hanging baskets, planters, urns, window boxes, and tons of packs of annual and perennial flowers available for (what many tell us) highly competitive to even surprisingly low prices!

Want to support local mom and pop small businesses? We've been family owned and operated since it all began locally with the Galletta's brothers, with this location started by WW2 and Oswego Police veteran John J. Galletta several decades ago, and is still run and supported by his family, and still a little bit of a secret location to many -- often we are shocked at just how many locals don't even know about!

Galletta's Greenhouse is one of the biggest local growers for your home and gardening needs! We grow all winter on site (and that is expensive heating!) to serve Oswego County and beyond. Annuals, perennials, vegetable plants, hanging baskets, urns, flower boxes... the list goes on and on.

We are open every day all Summer long. Enjoy this collection of videos from around our several operational in-site greenhouse nurseries.

Located in the Town of Oswego, just outside of Minetto, NY. We are hidden from the road, so many drive by and don't even know we're there.
