7 Steps to Being A Pro Vendor and Performer! Venues, like our events, see you post in groups and quickly find they are at a dead end for finding how to contact the you, see what products the vendor makes and sells and what type of performances you do with the lack of photos and live videos. Look at your personal profile and business page. If you wanted to know more about you, do you have decent photos and interactive videos, a way to contact you, a presence that does not say hobby? Even if you do not have an LLC, create a name and FB page so you can separate your personal from business and promote yourself. You will be delighted how having information about you brings on a new level of professionalism, and a way to be invited to events. Create a calendar so people can follow you or an event can see you are free to join them!
Looking over so many of your profiles, the list of good crafters and performers with no representation is beyond frustrating for me as a person who knows the potential for this as a part Tim or full time business. RFF just started making events so more of you and performers, would have one more place in your travels to make money doing what you love to do. The potential is there and people, like myself, join groups to observe and find good potential participants for our events. Facebook, if used right, is your future business, but you need to treat yourself as a business moving forward. I look at your profile to learn more about you and to invite you to participate. Your FB is your business card, even if you are making and selling as a hobby or performing part time. Who knows, maybe you can make enough money to not sell Pampered Chef, Mary Kay and all of the extra income businesses and make enough doing the one thing you love to do, the art that feeds your soul and that of the people who buy what you make or watch you perform! My daughter left her very well-paying career in NYC to pursue her true dream of vending full time. To do that, draw a circle around the area you are willing to travel and look further if you can! For my daughter, she expanded to traveling the whole East Coast. Even performers who happily announce they are doing what they love full time, found they need to travel farther. My daughter met her fiance this year at a Faire, who also is a full time artist and vendor. So depending on how much money you are hoping to make, there is a growing community of people who are surviving and thriving as artists and crafters…though to me those words are synonymous! I see some of you are relying on Etsy as a way to sell, but again, to be taken seriously, even if doing this as a hobby, use FB to its fullest…as a face to what you do. Primary, give yourself a separate face than your profile. Build a business page and give your business a name. Yes, coming up with a name can be hard. Try making sure your name is pretty unique. A great way to do that is use the free part of Go Daddy and search if the name is taken. While there, if you are serious about what you do, buy the domain at least for a year to give you time since most of the time it is less than coffee at Dunkin! Make yourself a free business Gmail. Now you have the ingredients for a free business card right here on FB. Make a business page, describe what you do, add a way to contact you besides messenger by at least adding an email. This way, customers can contact you, asking questions, asking for custom orders and it helps give credibility to your business and a face to the world that says you want to sell product, a face that is not your personal face or family photos. Make sure you link that business page to your personal profile. Way too many of you have NO WORK PLACE. Maybe you have retired or a place you work but if you sell even one thing, fill that space with self-employed at the very least. At the very least, start filling up your profile with photos of what you make and performances you have done. Ask someone to video for you! So many times I see a post in a group and when I look at your profile for a way to contact you and learn more about you as an artist I come to a dead end because 1) no location 2) no photos 3) no contact information 4) no business links - Making a FB business page and a Gmail are free and gets people away from your profile, leaving your profile for friends and family photos! If you did buy the website, now you have a professional “I am serious, this is my day gig face”.
We have Queensland Faire, Heathen Fest, Forrest of the Fae. We moved from NYS to PA. It was a huge leap, as is going full time as a vendor or performer, but I am here to say it can be done. If your heart says you are a hobbiest or perform at parties, that is ok at least share each other and events. FB gives us the tools to help each other through shares!takes all of you to help one another. The one thing we all do have in common here on FB is being part of a community. As an event, I depend on my vendors, performers, patrons and all of my followers and their’s to share posts, repost, and create posts with tags. In turn, I promote them! There is one percent, maybe 10 percent max here on FB to live inside the fence. Many, at the very least, want a few neighbors to notice their well tended rose garden, and many, particularly those attracted to pages with like interests to find a buyer or just simply show off, and some are like to lend experience. Then, there is me, wandering and looking for someone great at what they do, lives at least within a decent driving distance, to see more of what you make, and invite you to Vend or Perform. Finding you sell on Etsy with no email is a dead end. Some only do Etsy, but if you posted in a group something to sell, you still look better when you a) have more product pictures on your profile b) have a professional presence with a FB page listed where we all can click and happily get off your personal profile. The same goes for performers.
Lastly : post close up and well lit photos of your item, or show and post at least once a week (it is 2025 and your last post is 2020?), promote up-coming events your followers can find you at. This also is a testimonial to events that you are part of the community and understand it takes a VILLAGE to be successful. Like and Follow, Share…make FB work for you and help others at no cost to you for a thumbs up. Networking works but you need contact j fo, pictures and supporting
One another through likes and shares. Thank you to those who run groups for the many hours you devote to ensuring your group is not filled with scammers or spammers, driving content and support. By the way, do not fall for the pm me people out there. No real event should be without a website with contact information and applications. Pay close attention to the website url and every letter in the email address off the website. Do not get scammed by copy cats. Protect yourself here on FB by making a business page and create a business email! It makes you look better as well. Do not send money to anyone who asks through a pm me message or a pm me I am official. Official is a website applications. Yes, there are small events out there but their address and information need to be verified. You read this far? Now do this assignment…look at your profile. Would a stranger know what you do? Would they see what you make and sell or what your performance is like? Do you have a link to help them find what you do and get off your profile? Do you have at least 10 good product photos or live show videos? Do you have a quick and easy way to contact you? Do you have a list of up-coming events with dates and locations (at the very least a state) Do you show what state you live in? Do you have a website and/or link to buy your products on line or YouTube links? Look at your FB. Is it a business card? My husband’s great grandmother made quilts. She gave at least three to every member of the family and still had rooms filled with quilts, so hobby that it was, she would have made a lot of people happy had Facebook existed! Give people a way to jump off your profile page and see what you have to offer by creating a page that represents you.

Funny story of how we were meant to come to Bedford with God pointing the way! A while before we even knew we would become an event venue somewhere on the East coast, our business, Black Kat Designz drove to Delaware to purchase an amazing library on wheels to convert into transportation for a clothing business that vends at countless Renaissance Faires. The poor bus just was too old and we had to give up the dream of making her road worthy but “Buscuit” as she was fondly named after the library card found on the bus, will always be treasured! One day after moving to Bedford County, it was realized we were truly home! With photographic recall, Kat was astonished to remember the bus we bought said Bedford County Bookmobile! Talk about kizmet!! Looking through papers I found photos of the old girl and wanted to share. Little did we know, we came home to where we belong. Right where God wanted us to bring a whole lot of fun to our neighbors here, nestled in the middle of Altoona and Bedford, in a little known town called Osterburg. We are proud to be a part of Bedford County! Thanks for reading the story of how we were meant to be here, finding our way after searching other areas of PA, OH, and Missouri! Come visit our events and see what amazing things we have planned for this beautiful piece of God’s country!

When you want the job done, Brouse Forestry and Tree Care puts their back into doing everything right. Look how close this big tree was to the house and power lines. Hire the experts every time! We are so appreciative Brouse Forrestry is handling preparing the grounds for Queensland Faire! It is a huge undertaking under last minute conditions. Without their dedication, this project would have fallen short of the deadlines needing to be met. Thank you Zack for being here for us and understanding our needs. Zack was also a great neighbor bringing his men to rescue our cat in the tree. Ravenwood Estates can’t express enough our gratitude! Zack took on much of the load and is sponsoring a great deal of his time to ensure Bedford County’s first Renaissance Faire is ready for June 14&15!! Thank you for the many hours and expertise you have poured into getting us ready here in Osterburg!
