Cinco de Mayo: Culture or Commodity? Are brands scamming you and taking advantage?
Every May 5th, U.S. brands roll out the red carpet with taco deals, margarita specials, and festive ads. But behind the colorful promotions lies a deeper narrative.

📊 Economic Impact:

$6 billion in agave-based beverage sales in 2022, a 500% increase over the past decade.
$151.2 million pounds of avocados consumed in the two weeks leading up to Cinco de Mayo.
$745 million in beer sales during the holiday week, surpassing even Super Bowl figures.

Yet, while profits soar, representation lags:
Only 45% of Hispanic consumers feel represented by brands, and we're not going to mention some of those brands removing their inclusion initiatives that really profit off of this date...

RAW... BOLD...UNAPOLOGETHIC...POLEMIC...
I've heard it all... and I agree with all. I am all those things and more.

But RAW is probably the one I like best. Some of the finest foods are eaten raw... a good steak, sushi, carpaccio... And they require a special palate to appreciate them.

RAWNESS means also truthful, no sugarcoating, pure... and brutally honest.

When I take on a new client, I let them know... I'm not here to tell you that you are awesome. It may hurt at times. But I'm going to tell you like it is.

If I have an opinion on something or someone in my industry, I will say it. And if what I say raises an eyebrow... so be it.

And yes, I'm often the girliest tomboy in the room. Because although in pink heels, I'm not scared of the ties around the table. One client told me once "you have more balls than any man I've done business with¨ and I take that with pride.

I don't make excuses for who I am. Who and how I am has gained me more allies than enemies.

In a world where everyone wants to fit in, I don't mind standing out. I owe it to myself and anyone who pays for my vision on things to give them exactly that.

So... Stop looking for approval. Stop looking to be what´s expected of you. If you´re bold, raw, loud, crazy, be it. No one will buy a personal brand that is fake for long. Sooner or later your true colors will show.

Empecemos porque el marketing no crea necesidad sino que te presenta soluciones a necesidades que tienes.

EL ERROR AL CREAR un producto o servicio es a menudo que queremos proveer aquello que nos dijeron que debíamos hacer: satisfacer una necesidad.

Lo que no te dijeron es que SATISFACER UNA NECESIDAD no significaba satisfacer CUALQUIER NECESIDAD por importante que sea. Por ejemplo: todo el mundo tiene la necesidad de estar saludable, sin embargo a no ser que estemos graves o nos acabemos de asustar con alguna situación, no solemos buscar salud. Porque AUNQUE TENEMOS LA NECESIDAD, NO SENTIMOS LA NECESIDAD. Es más, tal vez sentimos más la necesidad de una sesión de botox porque esa arruguita nos molesta cada día en los selfies que nos tomamos. Y le daremos por ende prioridad al botox sobre la salud hasta estar en situación de SENTIR esa necesidad.

BUSCANDO LA SENSACIÓN DE NECESIDAD EN TU MERCADO
Cuando empresarios y clientes me vienen en consultorías con la creación de nuevos servicios, productos, eventos... Sí, analizamos la necesidad de ello en el mercado, pero vamos un paso más allá... buscamos la sensación de necesidad en ese mercado. Porque en el primer mundo con las necesidades básicas ya satisfechas, la pirámide de Maslow es como un iceberg donde sólo vemos los dos niveles de arriba y el resto queda bajo el agua.

QUÉ HACER
Antes de lanzar un producto, un servicio o un evento o conferencia yo miro los trends. Mira que está trending en Google, en Pinterest, en TikTok, en Instagram... Qué temas están tratando, qué estética, qué hashtags se usan o preguntas se hacen. No es lo que tú quieres ni lo que tu público necesita. ES LO QUE BUSCAN.

“Stand Out Consulting LLC” also known as @StandOutPros​ is a Florida based company that uses content marketing, social media, communications and digital PR strategies to help companies and individuals stand out with their personal and corporate brand.

Our international team prides in offering our services in the US, Latin America, and Europe both in English and Spanish with services that range from Business Consulting to Content Marketing, Influencer Marketing, Employer Branding, or some of our niches such as Real Estate Marketing in Orlando, Social Media for Recruiters or Public Relations for the Latin Market in Central Florida.

The company is women-owned and was born when founder Juliana, after years of freelancing decided she wanted to open her own company to take on bigger projects and give other moms and women an opportunity to earn extra income on their own time.

Although we work with big international companies, some of our first clients were "mompreneurs" and helping other women entrepreneurs is part of our mission as a company.
