🚀 Did you know Robin Williams almost joined the Star Trek Family?

In the early '90s, Star Trek: The Next Generation began welcoming celebrity fans into the fold. Whoopi Goldberg, a lifelong Trekkie, famously joined the cast as Guinan after reaching out through her friend LeVar Burton.

And Robin Williams? He came this close to appearing in the classic episode "A Matter of Time" as a fast-talking, time-traveling con artist named Berlinghoff Rasmussen — a role written specifically for him.

But fate had other plans. Williams was filming Hook with Spielberg and couldn't make the schedule work. Actor Matt Frewer ultimately took the role — and did a fantastic job — but you can't help but imagine the magic Robin would’ve brought to the bridge of the Enterprise.

Just another reminder of how close we came to seeing one of the galaxy’s greatest comedians in one of sci-fi’s greatest series. 🖖✨
