Event Recap 🏐

Turns out volleyball is a pretty effective icebreaker.
No awkward standing around wondering who to talk to. We mixed up the teams, hit some great shots, missed some spectacularly, dove into the sand, laughed a lot, and met a whole bunch of new people along the way.
That’s exactly why we do events like this.

Connection gets easier when you have something to DO together.

Thank you to everyone who came out, especially those who showed up solo and jumped right in. You came to play volleyball and left knowing a few more people than you did when you walked through the door.

And based on the amount of sand people took home with them, everyone also left with a souvenir.
This is Singles Mingle. Come alone. Play. Laugh. Meet people naturally.

Molly Bitton’s grief journey led her to a place where she had often found comfort: her running community.

After her husband’s unexpected passing in 2013, she created Have You Met? Events.

"Grief doesn't always include the death of a spouse," she said. "It can be the loss of a job or of a goal or a community. We're all grieving in one way or another, and we all need our people. I want to live a good, joyful life, and I feel like I can help provide a safe space for other people."

You googled them. They googled you.

Some things belong in the past. But have you ever checked to see if yours are still showing up in public records?

Last week we talked about looking someone up before a date.

An old mistake from years ago may still be sitting in your public record, even after you've moved well beyond it.

Utah allows certain eligible criminal records to be expunged, which can limit public access to those records. And while Utah has an automatic Clean Slate process for some eligible cases, there may also be options to proactively pursue an expungement rather than simply waiting.

If you have something in your past that you'd rather not keep introducing to your future, it may be worth finding out:

• What's actually on your record?
• Is it eligible for expungement?
• What steps can you take now?

How to Date Smart
Don't let an old record hold you back or cause unnecessary anxiety when someone inevitably "Googles" you. Take matters into your own hands.

Audit Yourself: Set up a free Utah MyCase account (mycase.utcourts.gov) to see exactly what a potential date sees when they look you up. If there is something there, consider reaching out to a local expungement attorney or legal aid clinic to push your paperwork through manually.
