As the person filming your love story, I thought you deserved to know a bit about mine. This is who I’m sure you all have seen me share on my stories all the time. She is my rock, my mentor, my partner, my best friend, and just so happens to be the greatest wedding photographer that I know.

When I first started wedding videography, I was in my sophomore year of film school at Syracuse University, and as a broke college student trying to figure out how to make a quick buck, I found a ton of YouTubers telling me to join a Facebook group and film weddings. So, I did, and I was TERRIBLE at it. Coming from a traditional film background, I didn’t know the first thing about weddings or being a vendor. Actually, the first wedding I filmed was the first wedding I attended šŸ˜‚

Fast forward a couple of years, and I’ve now just graduated college, looking for what I wanted to spend my time doing. I had been hired from Facebook by some girl named Jenna to second shoot video at a wedding for her. When I showed up, Jenna and her two friends (Emily and Dani) popped out of her car, and I realized quickly that I was the odd man out. Being the only man in the group, they were weary of me of course, but by the end of the night, the four of us got along so well, that we ended up making a group chat called the Dream Team, and could barely say goodbye. But we ultimately did say goodbye, and that should have been the end of it.

By chance, two weeks later, Jenna had a seconding spot last minute need to be filled, so she reached out to me, and of course I said yes. This time, it was just us, and we could not stop smiling the whole day. Our synergy was off the charts, and we spent two hours after the wedding laughing, chatting and singing in the car after the wedding. We both had just made a new friend… but when we said goodbye, I sat in my car facing a two hour drive home and just had to call her. She picked up the phone and I said ā€œI never got to tell you that podcast idea!ā€

I’m at my character limit but… needless to say Jenna and I met when we weren’t looking for love, and in each other, we found our best friend. ā¤ļø

Hi everyone, I wanted to share some honest feelings with you all about love, life, wedding films… I hope this helps you feel seen and get to know me a little.

TLDR: Shifting focus towards a more intimate and intentional approach to filmmaking and business as a whole. Telling stories with meaning and depth, capturing more than just what happens at weddings, but also the meaning and emotion behind them.

The story:

I ultimately stumbled into wedding filmmaking, and growing up, it was never the goal. While I was pursuing a commercial production company and taking a full time course load as a film student, I found weddings as a fun way to make a little side income. For a while, that’s where things stayed for me. I always had fun with weddings but when I was asked why I made these films, I felt like it was just something fun, and wasn’t much deeper than that.

Over the past year, I’ve been wrestling with my understanding of who I am, and why I do what I do. As I’ve fallen deeper in love with wedding films, I’ve had to ask myself where my personal attachment is to it all. Then, a few months ago, I heard a song that struck a chord at the perfect time. The song was ā€œForeverā€ by

In the midst of a teeny little mental breakdown about this whole thing, I sat down and listened to this song for the first time, and really listened to the lyrics. I felt everything from nostalgia to sadness to joy and goofiness and so many more complex emotions in between. After digesting it for a while, I jumped up and had my AHA! moment. That’s the feeling I need to create. That’s who I am as an artist. That’s why I make wedding films.

I believe that love is forever, and there’s a reason nobody has one definition of love. Love is everything. Every emotion, every kiss, every fight, your first apartment together, saying goodbye to loved ones side by side… all of it. Marriage is the sharing of two lives, which involves all of those emotions.

In my wedding films, I want to capture the feeling of this love in its entirety, so that when you look back at this time in your lives together, no matter how far in the future, you’re reminded of the genuine deep love you share. ā¤ļø
