💔 A Little Update from Rosa 💕

Hi everyone — it’s Rosa from Rosita’s Cocina.

A few weeks ago, I broke my foot and had major reconstructive surgery. What was supposed to be the busiest, happiest season for me and my little restaurant turned into one of the hardest moments of my life. The recovery has been painful, slow, and honestly — it’s taken a real toll on me physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I’ve been showing up to the kitchen in pain, trying to push through on one leg because I didn’t want to let go of what I’ve built — this dream I started four years ago with nothing but a tent and a vision. But the truth is… I need more time to heal. I need to rest. And I need your help to keep Rosita’s Cocina alive while I do.

For the next month or two, I’ll be reducing our hours to give my body the chance to recover:
✨ Friday & Saturday: 11 AM – 6 PM
✨ Sunday: 10 AM – 2 PM

I’m moving all our specials to the weekends — 🌮 Taco Tuesdays and 🥟 Empanada Specials will now happen every weekend at Rosita’s! Everything you love, just condensed into three days full of flavor, heart, and community.

September 3rd — the day everything shifted.

A month ago today, my life took a 360° turn. September 3rd was supposed to be just another busy day —my first day at the kind of day I love. My son started his first day at school .macd 🏫💛, I met with a state representative , I greeted the new Mexican Consul 🇲🇽🤝, we celebrated my son’s birthday 🎂, and I closed up the restaurant after a long shift at the Tannery.

Then, walking out of the building, I broke my foot. 🚑 What started as a busy, beautiful day ended with an ambulance and reconstructive surgery. Since then, everything has slowed down — my business, my college classes, my routines, and even my spirit. This fall was supposed to be my busiest season, the one to get ahead. Instead, I’ve been learning how to sit still, how to heal, and how to let go.

I’m not going to pretend it’s easy. I’ve had days of frustration and sadness, and my business has felt the strain. But I’m also deeply grateful for life, for my team, my family, my customers, and for the community that keeps Rosita’s Cocina going.

These 20 photos are a snapshot of that one day — from the highs of family and community to the moment everything changed. They’re a reminder that life can turn in an instant, and that even in the hardest seasons, there’s still so much to appreciate. ❤️

Thank you to everyone who’s been patient, supportive, and kind while I recover. We’re still here, and we’re still cooking — just a little slower for now. 🌮🙏🏽 who knows what’s next 💔☹️🤷🏽‍♀️💔
