👋 hi, all! It’s time for an intro since it has been too long!

I’m Phoebe, owner and lead planner of B’burg Events. I live in Brooklyn with my partner and our old lady dog, Marcy.

We recently purchased a home in the Catskills in Upstate NY. This means more upstate weddings!! Our scenery will now be split between our favorite city and the beautiful mountains.

When I’m not planning weddings you can find me trottin’ around town with my honey and our pup, training with , drinking an IPA, cheering on the , eating , riding around on my bike or watching far too much tv (hi ) - especially since we’ve begun a quest to watch every season of to scratch that travel itch!

This time last year we were knee deep in big, beautiful, fall weddings. And this year? Well, things are different! With a few special micro-weddings this season, I’m so grateful for alternate ways to celebrate love, safely and intimately.

Like a new year, the start of a new season brings hope. The foliage is just beginning to change our surroundings, there’s a chill in the air that catches you off guard, but it has a crisp scent that only comes with fall.
For me it’s all a reminder that hope alone does not bring change. We must act to bring justice, to protect our democracy, to defend our health and safety, to save our earth.

Hi all! You may have noticed that we have been quiet on our own posts. We took place in the call to action in order to highlight BIPOC voices on social media.
You also may have noticed that our stories have been 🔥 with educational and actionable resources in the fight against systemic racism. We will start to intersperse wedding photos in our feed, but continue to post stories that we find helpful for ourselves and may be of a resource to you.
We have a lot of work to do, but I would be remiss if I didn’t look specifically at the way b’burg could be better. Below is a reflection of our plan to go from ally to accomplice in the fight to end systemic racism in our country. We are open to hearing all feedback from our BIPOC couples and friendors, but realize it is no way your obligation to tell us how to do better.
The marathon continues.

LISTEN + LEARN
We will actively, respectfully listen to and learn from People of Color.
We will educate ourselves on how we got here and how to make impactful change.

SHOW UP
We will not be silent. Black Lives Matter. We will say it again and again.
We will continually show up in the fight for equality not only from the police, but in housing, the education system and public health.
We will call out friends and family on their racism and microaggressions, even when it's uncomfortable or there are no People of Color around to be offended.
We will hold our couples accountable to ensure they are having an anti-racist wedding.
We will actively seek to be a safe haven.

TAKE ACTION
We will not take up space in Black and Brown communities, but rather make space at our table. We will actively recommend POC in the wedding vendor community to our couples. .
We will identify and commit to actionable changes. In order to make progress with systemic reform, it is simply not enough to be an ally.
We will continue to recommit and be held accountable. This is not a trend. . .

We will amplify black voices in our stories along with actionable resources to aid in the end to systemic racism in our country.
It’s so important to continue having the tough conversations, but we must do the work.
We see you, we hear you, we stand with you.
