When you ask for the increase, don’t be surprised when God sends the flood. This week we were honored to support a huge initiative within the Mayor’s Office.

Growth doesn’t always come in small doses. Sometimes it comes in waves that require you to level up, expand, and trust the process while you’re still building.

Grateful for the opportunities, the doors opening, and the lessons that come with every new step.

When I was a little girl, I remember gazing out from my grandma veranda, wondering what I would become when I grew up.

I didn’t know exactly what the future held, but I knew I wanted a life filled with purpose. I knew I wanted to see the world beyond what was directly in front of me.

For those who are new here,🙋‍♀️Hola..I’m Karmisha, Founder and CEO of EBK Events & Marketing Services, a New York City-based event management firm.

For more than a decade, I’ve had the privilege of producing experiences, building partnerships, and serving clients across both the public and private sectors.

Allow me to share with you a quick story about being trailblazer. During the height of COVID, I boarded a plane to Dubai.

I almost didn’t go.

A week prior —I had contracted COVID and the uncertainty surrounding travel was overwhelming. Family members questioned whether I should take the risk. Even My brother, who is no longer with us, looked at me and said, “They’re not going to let you on the plane.”

But I was determined.

Not because I had all the answers, but because I refused to let fear decide how far I could go.

That trip changed me.

It taught me that wealth is not just money. Wealth is vision. Wealth is exposure. Wealth is courage. Wealth is believing there is more available to you than what you can currently see.

Today, I’m proud to share that EBK Events has been awarded its first official government contract under the new administration.

This moment is about more than a contract.

It’s about the little girl standing on that veranda dreaming about what was possible.

It’s about every woman working tirelessly to build wealth, create opportunities for others, and leave a legacy for the generations that follow.

It’s about betting on yourself when the outcome isn’t guaranteed.

And it’s for my brother.
Because while he isn’t here to witness this milestone, his memory remains woven into this journey.

More than 10 years in business.

Countless prayers. Countless lessons.

Still standing.
Still building.
Still believing.

After months of planning, executing, and building ASCEND, I finally had the rare opportunity to enjoy an intentional day off.

What started as a night out turned into an invitation to experience the energy of the Busta Rhymes concert hosted by Wells Fargo — and somehow ended with me being pulled into an impromptu media interview discussing the impact and importance of New York hip-hop culture. 🎤🗽

Honestly, it was one of those iconic “New York” moments that reminded me why culture, conversation, music, and community will always move together.

As someone building curated experiences and leadership spaces through ASCEND, I’m constantly inspired by the power of environments that bring people together organically.

Also had to represent in — proud to support brands rooted in creativity, vision, and authenticity. 🔥

This past weekend I was invited to a Mother’s Day celebration at New Haven SDA, and a little girl randomly took a liking to me and honestly… she never left my side the entire time. 🥹

From asking me a million questions, to proudly showing me little things throughout the day, to simply wanting to be near me the whole time lol — it was one of the sweetest and purest moments I’ve experienced in a while.

At one point, her mom looked over and said, “Leave the lady alone 😂 … she really likes you.” And truthfully, I adored her right back.

What touched me the most was how much she reminded me of myself as a child. Curious. Outgoing. Free-spirited. Able to connect with people without bias, fear, or overthinking. Children really do move through the world led by energy and sincerity more than anything else.

It also reminded me how precious small moments are. Sometimes life gets so busy that we overlook the quiet interactions that end up leaving the deepest impact on us.

It was a beautiful reminder to stay soft, stay kind, and never lose the parts of yourself that once made the world feel magical.

Something I had to unlearn as a founder…

That I always need to be in motion.

After weeks of building, producing, and pouring into ASCEND… this weekend looked different.

I slowed down.

Sat in a space that reminded me to listen.

Stepped outside and let the day unfold without forcing it.
A quiet walk.
A piece of cheesecake.
A stop I didn’t plan—but made time for.

Simple moments… but they felt full.
And somewhere in that stillness, I felt abundance.

Not everything requires pressure.
Some things just require alignment.

I’m learning to move with intentional.

More grounded. More aware. More guided.

It’s quieter—but it feels so good.
