One day I visited my friend, Randi Childs at her studio for a very casual catching up. We didn't plan anything special. I hardly wore any makeup. I helped her around the studio as we were chatting. Then I don't remember how it happened but I was trying some of her studio pieces and we were taking photographs.

It was truly fun. No expectations. No pressure.
And in the end we created some of the most artistic and dreamy images of me.

Then she had her wonderful event some months later.
And what a surprise to see my own portrait as a piece of art..

Seeing yourself through another's artist's eyes is like seeing another layer of yourself peeled. And something new was revealed.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear is "I'm not photogenic".

In my experience photographing women this is just not true.

What happens that makes people think they don't look good in photos is almost always at least one of these factors: bad lighting, awkward pose, bad direction, feeling self conscious.

And I can tell you, for 100% sure, ALL people feel self conscious when they are photographed.

Confidence to show up in front of the camera is not something you're born with.

But... It's definitely something that can be brought forward by careful guidance and creating a space for a person to be their best SELF.

To the women who drive us crazy at times, but we know we can always count on them, to the last drop, and they know - they can count on us. To the women who love our children like one else in this world. To the women we're most grateful for.
