Baba Diop, founder of XELKOM, was born and raised in Senegal, West Africa to a family of master craftspeople. His family’s legacy includes tailoring, leather work and indigo dyeing.

XELKOM came about through spending hours at the infamous Marché Colobane, sifting through fabrics to find quality pieces to customize.

XELKOM (pro: hel - Kahm) means “prosperity of the mind” in Wolof, one of the languages of Senegal.
