Imagine jumping on and off NYC public transportation with a full camera kit. That was my daily reality.

Back when I lived on Wall St, not every shoot was in the city. When it was, I always had to decide if it was worth taking an Uber because traffic in Manhattan was brutal. The train and the bus were usually faster but hauling gear through subway stairs and crowded buses was never easy.

NYC also taught me how to get the best quality with less when possible. I learned how to simplify my kit, keep things lightweight, and still make everything look polished.

I honestly miss those situations. Jumping on a bus with equipment, taking a quick fifteen minute ride to a shoot, trying not to drop a light stand. It was challenging but it was always interesting.

This shoot in the Lower East Side and Brooklyn was one of my last before moving to California in 2024. I was filming bartenders for a project about the growing non alcoholic beer scene. The job came directly from LinkedIn.

The budget was built for social content so I kept my kit small enough to travel with. Even with a compact setup, I did not want to rely on natural light or cut corners. I still wanted the interviews to look intentional, clean, and elevated while staying within scope.

It felt good to look back on this project and remember that consistently showing up online continues to open doors.

How I booked two shoots from one coffee meeting.

When I moved from New York to the South Bay, I did not know a single person. I came across a local realtor’s profile, reached out, and she responded with genuine enthusiasm. We met with no agenda. It was simply two people in the same community getting to know each other.

That one conversation led to her recommending me to | .
That led to photographing their awards ceremony.
And then they called me back again, this time to capture the ribbon-cutting of their new office in beautiful Malaga Cove with .

Twelve months ago, I knew no one here.

Last night, I walked into a networking event and was reminded just how much can change in a year.

When I first moved to California, I didn’t know a single person. But I knew I had to show up. One introduction at a Montessori school picnic led me to ProVisors. From there, I made it a mission to keep connecting: through the , the , and every opportunity that came my way.

Now, I walk into rooms and see familiar faces People I’ve met through events, conversations, referrals, and simply staying consistent.

If you’re new somewhere or just starting out, don’t underestimate what a year of intention can do. Keep showing up. One day, you’ll be the one making others feel like they belong.

Community energy at its best!

Back in May, celebrated their official ribbon cutting with the Redondo Beach Chamber of Commerce, joined by friends, family, and Council Member . The event was full of excitement, creativity, and connection, followed by great food and conversation.

I had the pleasure of capturing and editing this highlight video. It is always great to document events that celebrate the people and places making Redondo Beach even more inspiring.

Ever bump into someone you know in a place you have never been, doing a job you have never done before?

That happened to me at the in Anaheim (a city I have only visited for with my kids). I was there as the official event photographer when I saw Emeka from , which is part of . We met a few months ago during a Troika.

Being new to California after moving from NYC, I do not know many people here, so running into him was a great surprise. We first connected over the playoffs and my favorite team in all of sports, the . Running into him here was a great reminder of how valuable a strong network can be. You never know where those connections will show up. Thank you to for bringing on for this project!

I had the pleasure of creating this video of , giving gift boxes full of beautiful cookies for Thanksgiving, to their clients. I really enjoy projects like this, capturing the joy and fun of an event. These are just some screen grabs from the actual video, which will be released soon.
