Turtle Island is a new outdoor spectacle created by Plasticiens Volants under the artistic guidance of Haudenosaunee artist, historian, and educator G. Peter Jemison (Seneca, Heron Clan), with choreography and performance contributions by Skywoman Iroquois Dance Theater. Co-produced by Unicycle Productions LLC and Plasticiens Volants, this intimate, family-friendly production brings to life the foundational Haudenosaunee Creation Story through a vibrant fusion of aerial puppetry, dance, and community engagement.

Developed with Indigenous artistic leadership at its core, Turtle Island honors ancestral narratives while addressing contemporary themes of balance, environmental stewardship, and collective responsibility. It invites audiences to witness the birth of the world atop the turtle’s back—a story that resonates across cultures as a symbol of resilience and interconnectedness.

Baro d'evel — Qui Som?

Blending extraordinarily skilled physical theater, acrobatics, baroque music and robotic techno, clowning, fresh clay, a deluge of plastic waste, Qui Som? (“Who Are We?”) speaks to the urgency of our times while remaining deeply accessible. Its universal language of movement and metaphor connects with audiences across generations and backgrounds—no translation required.

Programmed in theaters and opera houses across Europe, the show doesn’t end at curtain call. In a signature gesture that sets it apart, the audience is invited outside by a live street band, where the experience continues—part celebration, part procession, part communal ritual. It’s immersive without being demanding. Inventive without being alienating. Profoundly human.

"An irresistible vital energy in the face of the current apocalypses.”
-Le Monde

“A masterful show as vast as our fears and our need for action.” - Le Figaro

Whether for a festival centerpiece, a bold season opener, or a culminating event for community engagement, Qui Som? offers a once-in-a-decade opportunity to present a genre-defying, high-caliber international production that satisfies both artistic ambition and audience appetite.

Sending love and deep condolences to the family, friends, and community who knew and loved Marc Miralès.

"Imagine a landscape where the ordinary is transformed into the extraordinary, where giant inflatable creatures drift gracefully above, casting shadows of wonder on the ground below. Our art is not confined to the stage; it expands into the open sky, inviting everyone to look up and be amazed."
-Marc Mirales, the visionary founder of Plasticiens Volants

Sxip Shirey's was most recently seen at the historic Circus Festival https://bryantpark.org/calendar/event/circus-festival at Bryant Park that brought over 7,000 audience members to the lawn and was produced by the one and only .martin.52687

Sxip Shirey is a boundary-pushing sonic innovator who blends performance, storytelling, experimental instrument design, and theatrical spectacle – whether on stage, in circus tents, or at immersive venues around the world.

But, don't just take our word for it...

“Shirey is the living embodiment of the spirit of John Cage, committed to the tenets that music is play and listening to music is an active endeavor…” -Anne E. Johnson, Classical Voice

“The notes of Shirey’s music don’t just float in the air; Limbo’s performers respond to them. There’s cause and effect, actions and reactions. While many of the big Fringe circus shows feature performers who have choregraphed their routines to match songs which have been composed separately, Limbo differentiates itself through its interplay between artist and composer. When a fire breather blows on the flames, the music blazes.” - Eventalaide

“…his performances seem a combination of careful planning and spur-of- the-moment inspiration.” -The New York Times

🛞Unicycle Productions and Sxip Shirey are launching a new collaboration: Please reach out to learn more if you are interested in Sxip’s work.

Muljil is a powerful site-responsive performance by Korea’s Elephants Laugh directed by Jinyeob Charlye Lee. The name draws its inspiration from the haenyeo—the iconic sea women of Jeju Island who dive deep without breathing equipment, gathering shellfish while defying physical limits and societal expectations. Each dive represents a moment of mortality: to descend is to face death; to surface is to reaffirm life. This cycle forms the heart of Muljil, a haunting, immersive experience where performers float in glass vessels—part reliquary, part aquarium—while the world’s obsessions play out around them: beauty, procreation, sexuality, labor.

Blending physical theater, contemporary ritual, and participatory practice, Muljil unfolds through site-specific installations and movement sequences charged with emotional and symbolic weight. The performance begins four days before the curtain rises, with workshops inviting local immigrant and refugee communities to contribute their own experiences of struggle, resilience, and joy. These voices are interwoven into the final event, creating a live tapestry of bodies and stories that refuse invisibility. Audiences are not passive observers but active participants, culminating in a shared dance that dissolves barriers and celebrates collective presence.

Since its debut at the Ansan and Seoul Street Arts Festivals in 2018, Muljil has toured globally, earning accolades at Stockton International Riverside Festival (UK), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Opera Estate Festival (Italy), Waves Festival (Denmark), The Performance Arcade (New Zealand), Veranos de la Villa (Spain), WOMADelaide (Australia), and the Festival d’Aurillac (France). As it prepares for a major European tour in 2025, Muljil continues to resonate across borders—reminding us that, though we live like islands, we are immersed in the same ocean.

Congratulations to Kamchàtka, recent winners of Spain’s Premios Max Award for Best Street Theatre Performance—the equivalent of a Tony Award for street arts in Europe. With “Fugit,” this radical street improvisation group cements its place among the most influential and original voices in the field, where strangers become collaborators and ordinary streets become parallel worlds.

Kamchàtka explores the essence of theatre in public space, crossing borders between theatre, game, and life itself. It offers praise for simplicity and spontaneity, an attempt to regain our humanity, and a new way of looking at life and the “Other.” Setting out from the inhabitants’ everyday life, Kamchàtka creates a parallel universe, a space for dialogue where the spectator becomes an active part of the exchange and the experimentation.

Open to the world around them, they respond to its complexity with simplicity and with the power of the emotions they evoke. Spectators leave changed by one of the most unforgettable yet generous theatrical experiences one can encounter.

🌎More than 450 performances in 32 countries
