I love dining out; it’s market research.

I’ve started off the first half of this year IN the field. Here were some highlights:

1. The Kennedy : Houston, TX - - dinner is superb. excellent service. wagyu smashburger, sea bass & chocolate chip cookies are standouts.
2. Dōgon : D.C. - - bold flavors and intentional story-telling. ben’s bowl & chicken and rice were standouts.
3. Anita Gelato : NYC - - this place has gelato to go down to a science. the packaging and accouterments make a perfect gift. get the caramel cookie crunch. you’re welcome.
4. Blue Ribbon : SoHo Manhattan - - a late night staple with a lot of soul. get the PuPu platter.
5. Tha Phraya : UES, Manhattan - .nyc - AMAZING flavors. great value. quick service. everything was delicious. lava crab fried rice is a must. top 3 meals (out) this year.
6. Hellbender : Ridgewood, Queens - - recently started brunch and it’s tasty. great prices. soft scrambled egg tostada & masa pancakes are a must.
7. Ling Nam Bake Shop : South SF, CA - .us - we are here for one thing folks and that’s the señorita bread. if you want 5, just get the 10. DIVINE sweet (yet savory) buttery goodness. you’re welcome.
8. San Tung : SF, CA - - the best chicken wings you’ve had in a long time. V popular Bay Area spot so call ahead and place an order for pickup unless you’ve got time. v specific hours. the dine-in experience gets good reviews.
9. Black Nile - BK, NY - - was craving a chicken plate and they delivered. well seasoned, great value for the portions.

I met the food genius himself yesterday at in Columbus Circle. He released a collection of essays and I got a couple autographed copies! We chatted briefly and he thanked me for my work as a private chef. Random serendipitous things like this are why I love living in New York.
