The 3-day festival includes free live-streamed performances, family singalongs, film screenings, the famous Banjo Toss contest (this year as a video game!) and more, plus ticketed music and dance workshops and special events. The Brooklyn Folk Festival will feature the best in old-time string-band music, folk, blues, song writers, jug band, bluegrass, Latin & Balkan music, and much more! between Clinton and Henry in Brooklyn Heights, but this year, because of Covid 19, the event was postponed, and ultimately taken online. Get ready for a good time because FBW & OVB are returning to the Brooklyn Folk Festival in just a few weeks You can find them on the Main Stage Saturday Nov, 7th at noon!

Fatboy Wilson and Old Viejo Bones met in a jug down in Tallahassee, Florida. Already long time veterans of jug band music, folk, and blues, their group coalesced on a trip to New Orleans. They continued to hone their multifarious sound under the California coastal redwoods, on road trips to Oaxaca, Mexico, and rag tag tours to Japan. They’ve been delighting audiences with their fun-loving authenticity, combining protest music with hints of Cumbia and jug band music with Norteño balladry.

We are so excited to welcome Suzi Shelton - Music for Kids to the Folk Festival on November 7th at 12:00 PM at Parish Hall!

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter and award-winning kids music artist Suzi Shelton has carved out a unique space in the world of children’s music, where she has seamlessly blended entertainment with education for over 15 years. With 10 + albums including her 2024 album ‘Community Through Music with Suzi Shelton’ released on Jalopy Records Suzi’s songs are filled with playful melodies and positive messages, making her a beloved figure among families.

Get ready for the force that is Tony Trischka , Bruce Molsky , and Michael Daves As a trio, Trischka, Molsky and Daves find raucously good-natured common ground between bluegrass and old-time styles. You can catch their set on the main stage on Sat, November 7th at 7:50 PM.

Tony Trischka is considered to be the consummate banjo artist and perhaps the most influential banjo player in the roots music world. For more than 45 years, his stylings have inspired a whole generation of bluegrass and acoustic musicians with the many voices he has brought to the instrument.

Bruce Molsky is one of the most revered “multi-hyphenated career” ambassadors for America’s old-time mountain music. For decades, he’s been a globetrotting performer, ethnomusicologist and educator, a recording artist with an expansive discography.

Heralded as “a leading light of the New York bluegrass scene” by the New York Times, Georgia-born guitarist/singer Michael Daves has garnered attention for his work with Tony Trischka, Steve Martin, and Chris Thile.

Hyllus (& The Veligers) will be taking the Folk Festival by storm this November 8th at 6:45 PM!

Named for the baby sea snail, Hyllus & The Veligers play R&B and Latin music with a style firmly rooted in the 20th century. Like young sea creatures, they play with a wavy, bouncy groove that long ago defined the sound and dance styles of these iconic American art forms. Their music will move you in ways at once nostalgic and peculiar, intimate yet galvanizing, and above all, eminently groovy.

We are so excited to welcome Gamelan Yowana Sari to the stage next month! Stop by the main stage on Friday, November 6th at 7:50 PM to hear their incredible set!

Gamelan Yowana Sari is a Balinese art ensemble in residence at the Aaron Copland School of Music at CUNY Queens College. Founded by Michael Lipsey, the ensemble performs both traditional Balinese music and contemporary compositions on authentic Balinese instruments. The group is currently co-directed by Michael Lipsey, Fred Trumpy, and Ruka Shironishi. Yowana Sari’s repertoire combines traditional aspects of Balinese music with contemporary compositional approaches and is distinctive for its integration of electric guitar and bass alongside Balinese gamelan instruments.

Get excited for Barry Clyde who will be joining us for the Brooklyn Folk Fest this November. He will be kicking off the party at the Parish Hall stage Friday the 6th at 7:00 PM.

Barry Clyde plays original compositions in the country blues tradition. Berry has been writing songs since 2010 and actively performing for over a decade. His musical direction has is based in 20th century American folk music of European and African descent, with an emphasis in traditional jazz of the early and mid-20th century. With a new batch of songs to play with his band, you won’t wanna miss this set!

Get ready to have hoot and a hollar because Annie and the Fur Trappers will be joining us for the festivities this November! You can find them on the Parish Hall stage on the 8th at 3:40 PM.

Annie and the Fur Trappers are a Boston-based traditional jazz and blues band. The band was founded in 2016 in St. Louis, Missouri, and features clarinet, trumpet, trombone, bass, banjo, guitar, and washboard. Annie and the Fur Trappers is dedicated to performing and preserving the traditional jazz, delta blues, ragtime, and swing music of the 1920s and 30s.

Judee Sill
Get ready for a sweet sweet set honoring Judee Sill on Sunday November 8th. Join Lily Talmers Minnie Moline Jordan Aidan Scrimgeour and Tree Palmedo in celebrating her life and legacy.

Judee Sill was a 70’s songwriter who did not live to see the broad impact and reception of her music. In honoring the original recorded arrangements songs from her two brilliant albums, from ‘71 and ‘73, this performance will seek to leave listeners to ponder the following question: what would music be like today if Judee had been given a longer life to teach us? Featuring various vocalists, full string, horn, and rhythm sections, and a cast of some of Brooklyn’s finest musicians, we’ll do a nosedive into Judee’s beautiful mind and spirit as she would’ve wanted you to hear it.

Get excited for Tyler Westcott to take the stage at the Brooklyn Folk Festival this fall. They will be tearing tup the stage at Parish Hall at 4:10 PM on Saturday November 8th.

Folkfaces is a New York state based roots music quartet. The group takes its influence from weird old American music. An energetic variety show and traveling music review. Exploring a wide range of genres including country blues, traditional jazz, rock and roll, h***y tonk, western swing, bluegrass and oldtime, jugband music and more. The music is driven by songwriter and frontman, Tyler Westcott who founded the band in 2011. The rest of the band includes multi-instrumentalist and fiddler Brendan Gosson, upright bass player Patrick Jackson, and percussionist Dan Schwach on drumkit and washboard.

We are excited to announce a Folk Festival Debut from MIGHTY REA you can find them on Saturday November 7th at 3:20 PM.

MIGHTY REA is an effervescent folk-forward acoustic trio. Members Rosa Joe Jacobs, Emma Turoff, and Annie McDougall all came from different backgrounds, but bonded in their appreciation of the power of musical storytelling and simplicity. With fiddle, guitar, and mandolin at the heart of their sound, MIGHTY REA crafts original tunes that feel both familiar and new, drawing from the rich heritage of Americana, old-time, and folk traditions while weaving in a playful, contemporary flair. Their warm, flowing melodies invite listeners to slow down, dance, and savor the beauty of the everyday.
