It's probably time I (𝘳𝘦)introduce myself, after my hiatus….
👋👋 I’m Meg, the owner & lead planner here at LVR Events. I’ve been planning weddings for a super long time, mostly in NYC, sometimes in faraway places ✈️.
❤️&✔️are my passion. And now here are some very random facts about me:

1. I’m exceptionally good at remembering song lyrics, but I can’t carry a tune to save my life. 🎤🎶 🎼
2. I always have a mini-emergency kit in my bag (planner for life). 🧷🧵 ✂️
3. I’m a big baseball fan (Bronx Bombers, baby!). One of my dogs is named after Yogi Berra. ⚾ 🐶
4. I’m allergic to shellfish, which is obviously my husband’s favorite food. 🦐 🦞 🦀
5. My internal clock is naturally set somewhere between Pacific & Hawaii time, even though I’ve always lived on the east coast. ⏰🌴🌙

Now, tell me something random about YOU! 👇💗

REMINDER: spend time with your partner on things that are NOT WEDDING related during your engagement! It’s so easy to get wrapped up in all wedding all the time, but your relationship can suffer if you don’t take time to connect in meaningful ways. I literally put reminders in my checklists for my couples to have date nights – where they don’t talk wedding stuff. It’s nice to have a reminder of who you are as a couple outside of your wedding! And it actually helps you reset from any decision fatigue you may be feeling. So, go do something fun together! Thank you for coming to my TED talk. 😊💍🥂💙

Since Covid-19 is forcing a lot of couples to rethink their wedding plans, now seems like a damn good time to start a series of posts about wedding myths… Because you REALLY don’t have to do things the “traditional” way. Even before the pandemic, but especially during the pandemic, and hopefully after the pandemic too!
Wedding Myth #1: (Western) Brides have to wear white. Nope, nope, nope! You don’t have to wear white & you don’t have to wear a dress either. White wedding dresses became a thing in 1840 when Queen Victoria got married – she wore white and ever the trendsetter, people followed suit. Even way back then, the wedding industry found a way to capitalize on the trend & started selling the story that the white dress was tradition & a symbol of purity. Totally not true! The wedding industry has been lying since FOREVER! So, wear whatever makes you feel like your best self.

I just wanted to drop a little 💕 to all the couples having to postpone their weddings or drastically scale back due to COVID & also some 💕 to all the vendors who are dealing with a lot of financial uncertainty from a completely upended wedding season. It won’t rain forever, loves. Someday we’ll be back to amazing, big, in-person celebrations of love. And I dare to think that this experience will change us all for the better in some ways. I’m looking forward to a future of weddings with more intention. How about you?

YOU GUYS. Sh*t has been weird, huh?!?! Real talk time: I’ve always struggled with “keeping up” with social media. I really did intend to come back and be more intentional this spring… but ya know, there was a pandemic (and TONS of weddings to postpone)... And then every time I’d go to post, it felt not important or just ehhhhhhhhhhhhh not the right time… and I’d scrap it and logout. But then a super wise lady I know told me that shutting off and not sharing my knowledge would be doing a disservice to couples out there planning, especially at a time like this, when in the wedding universe, we’re in some seriously uncharted territory. And that was just kind of a 💡 moment for me… So here I am – ripping off the bandaid. And here I’ll be…sharing my wedding brain (and maybe the occasional cute dog photo).

“It sounds counterintuitive, but my advice to brides looking to get fit for their wedding is don’t get fit for your wedding!” says Hotchkiss. “Get fit because you want to be healthy, because you want to have more energy, and because you want to be your best self, not just because you’re getting married.”

You’re about to marry the love of your life! The proposal was a perfect moment, and now it’s time to plan a wedding to showcase your love to family and friends. As magical and serendipitous as it sounds, wedding planning does come with its share of ups and downs. One of those downs being the dre...
