Fleur de Mahj

We’re introducing something new at Fleur de Mahj: Hong Kong Mahjong.

If you’ve only played American Mah Jongg, this is a fun chance to learn a different style of the game.

Hong Kong Mahjong has its own rules, scoring and winning combinations, so there’s plenty to discover at the table.

We’re hosting a two-night introductory class on October 26 & 27 from 6–8 PM.

No prior experience with Hong Kong (or American) Mahjong is needed. Just come curious and ready to learn something new.

Register early and get a discount through October 11.

Who’s up for trying a different way to play?

Let’s talk about something no one wants to hear at the Mah Jongg table: “Dead hands!”

But what actually happens when someone's hand goes dead or a player calls Mah Jongg in error? Whose turn is next? What happens to those exposed jokers? And once a hand goes dead, is there anything you can do to play it out?

We’re going to talk through all of it at our Dead Hand night on Thursday, October 29, and then get some playing in, too.

And because it’s Halloween in New Orleans: We've got a prize drawing for best costume, ya'll!

Thursday, October 29
6:00 PM
$30 early bird through October 11
$40 after October 11

🏆 Fleur De Mahj Tournament Winner! 🀄️✨

Still smiling about this one! I’m so proud and grateful to have taken home the win at the Fleur De Mahj Tournament. 💗

A huge thank you to Sheila and Carrie for being so welcoming and putting together such a wonderful day of American Mahjong. I got to play with so many talented players, including Mama Rhonda, my friend Sydney, and my new friend Claudette. The competition was great, but the people made the day even better.

One of my favorite things about the Louisiana Mahjong community is how this game keeps bringing new people into my life—and giving me opportunities to support and celebrate other Mahjong leaders.

And this definitely isn’t the last you’ll see of us together. 👀 We can’t wait to partner on some exciting things coming up!

Feeling very lucky (and maybe just a little proud 😉) to bring this win home to the Northshore! 🏆🀄️

Week 4 and we're starting to pull into the final stretch! Congratulations to our current leaders! There is definitely time to catch up!

Have you played on an automatic table yet?

If you’re used to shuffling and building the wall by hand, an automatic table is a whole different experience. The table does the shuffling and builds the wall for you, so when you’re ready for the next game, you’re ready to play.

It’s especially fun when you have your regular group and just want to settle in, catch up and get in as much Mahj as possible.

Our automatic table is available for Open Play bookings and table rentals on Thursdays and Fridays at:

110 Veterans Blvd., Suite 121
Metairie, LA

Looking for your Mahj people?

Mah Jongg is about so much more than the game. It’s having a group of people you genuinely look forward to seeing.

We’re so grateful for the community that’s growing around Fleur de Mahj, and even more grateful when our players take the time to share what it means to them.

A few words from the people who make this community what it is.

If you’ve been thinking about finding your Mahj people, we’d love to have you join us.

You know the rules. You know how to play. Now it’s time to sharpen your strategy.

Our General Strategies Boot Camp is a hands-on day designed to help you make more confident, intentional decisions at the table.

We’ll cover strategies like:

• When to call and when to pass
• Managing gap hands
• Planning purposeful discards
• Recognizing dead hands
• Using jokers strategically
• Do***ng your hand

Then, you’ll put those strategies into practice during guided open play, with plenty of time for questions and discussion.

10 AM–3 PM at Fleur de Mahj in Metairie
