While it ultimately comes down to personal preference, I typically recommend scheduling the cake cutting and a brief toast as a married couple immediately following the first dances. This keeps the energy and attention focused, allowing the celebration to flow seamlessly into the rest of the evening.

The cake doesn’t need to be cut and served at that moment, it can remain on display and continue to serve as a visual centerpiece throughout the reception, with dessert service happening later. This approach helps create a more continuous, uninterrupted celebration for both the couple and their guests.
