Just a friendly reminder, when sending in a commission request, please do your research on your chosen item/ character and who specializes in replicating it before cold calling.

In the last week I've received two requests from different people for screen accurate costumes from two movies I've never even watched before. While the messages have been very polite, it's evident that they didn't do any searching on the site and what Thread Lair offers.

When it comes to replication, unless you're a large company, small businesses typically have an area of specialty because in order to get the fine details and accuracy you would expect from a custom made, movie authentic piece of wardrobe, it takes considerable time to source materials and develop correct patterns.

Thread Lair does have plans to venture outside a Galaxy Far, Far Away, but as of right now the focus will be Star Wars and as time permits, Indiana Jones items.

Quick announcement! While referrals are GREATLY appreciated, unless it's a construction question or a request for fabrics, Thread Lair will remain on hiatus for ALL commissioned work as we have been since 2024.

Family obligations come first and my two year old is my full time job. Fabric sales and some leatherwork are currently the focus of the business due to quicker turn around and finished garments will be available in the shop as time permits.

For clients who have existing commissions, not to worry, these are in progress.
