Yesterday I had the pleasure of teaching over 40 Pre-K students at the Clarksville Children’s Learning Center about the beauty of scaly creatures! They were thrilled to meet the critters and eager to ask plenty of silly and serious questions. Seeing their curiosity and excitement while learning about reptiles made for an incredibly rewarding experience.

I love opportunities like these because they help children build confidence around animals, learn about conservation, and discover just how fascinating these misunderstood creatures can be.💚

If you're looking for a unique, educational, and interactive experience for your school, daycare, library, birthday party, church group, or community event, reach out to schedule a live reptile presentation. I'd love to bring these amazing animals to your next event! ✨🪲

Savvy’s Scales & Tails had the honor of teaching students at Our Lady about the amazing world of reptiles! The students were incredibly curious, engaged, and excited to learn about all of Savvy’s wild animals — especially Louie the Blue Tongue Skink!
This experience was especially meaningful because the class was taught by my very own kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Andres. Getting to return nearly 10 years later to share my passion for animal education with her students was such a full-circle moment. Mrs. Andres is an incredible teacher, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to work with her again!
Thank you to Our Lady for welcoming Savvy’s Scales & Tails for a fun and educational day!

Savvy’s Scales & Tails had an awesome time at Hazelwood Middle School’s Career Fair! 🐍✨

This was such a great chance for students to explore different career paths and start thinking about their futures. I was thrilled to share my journey as a young entrepreneur and talk about exciting careers in biology.

Over 700 students got the opportunity to meet some of our famous scaly friends up close while learning about wildlife biology, zoology, herpetology, and conservation.

My dream of opening a traveling reptile business started in 7th grade at Hazelwood Middle School. This full-circle moment was a great reminder to share with students that if you have a dream and put in the work, you can achieve ANYTHING!

Thank you Hazelwood Middle School for having Savvy’s Scales & Tails 🐍🦎💚

Have you ever seen a cuter snake?! 🐍✨

Meet Tilly Taco, the Ball Python!

Ball pythons are native to West and Central Africa.
When they feel scared, they curl up into a ball—just like their name suggests!🏀🐍

They were once even called “royal pythons,” because royalty, including Queen Cleopatra, was said to wear them around their necks like jewelry. 👑🐍

✨🦎CRESTED GECKOS!! 🦎✨

This is Echo, my crested gecko (Correlophus ciliatus).

Crested geckos are one of the most commonly kept pet reptiles. They are native to Southern New Caledonia. Crested geckos have no eyelids and instead have a flexible tongue used for licking their eyes to keep them moist. 👀🪴

Crested geckos also have thousands of microscopic hairs on their feet called setae, with even smaller hairs called spatulae. These hairs use van der Waals forces to create electromagnetic bonds with surfaces they touch, allowing them to stick.🌴🌱

Crested geckos are also nicknamed “eyelash geckos” because of the flexible spines above their eyes. To top it all off, crested geckos are hydrophobic, meaning water rolls off of them instead of sticking to them. 💧

All of these factors make crested geckos one of the coolest New Caledonian gecko species!🌿
