Sometimes drought tolerant plants are just what you need… This season has been exceptionally DRY here in the Berkshires and Capital Region. Every time it looks like it might rain, it somehow goes all around us leaving us in our little bubble of rock hard soil and dripping humidity. Worth it, if only just for these happy gals. .international

This palette is one of my favorites from this year. The soft tones play off one another, forming a rosey-hued rainbow of coleus, vinca, colocasia, New Guineas, fuchsia and begonias and ending in a silvery pillow of Dichondra. Most of these I’ve grown before, but the Fuchsia magellanica ‘Versicolor’ was new to me and she did not disappoint. Hopefully the hummingbirds have been enjoying her as much as I have!

My first experience with Bouteloa was my friend telling me how it reminded her of dragonflies. Now every time I see it I picture them perched on the tips of delicate grass, blowing with the wind.

Here, Za from has used it to perfectly counter the textures of creeping thyme, Russian Sage, lilacs and blue fescue; the wave of motion drawing your eye off in the distance to the rolling mountains.
