Patience is not a pause.
It’s the part of the work where roots decide how deep they’re willing to go.

I wrote about the difficulty and the quiet rewards of patience — in creativity, in motherhood, and in the slow, intentional building of community.

If you’re tending something that hasn’t bloomed yet, you’re not behind.
You’re building something that knows how to last.

Do you ever start with a plan… and then curiosity pulls you somewhere unexpected?

I just published a new blog post about creative side quests. Those beautiful, unplanned wanderings that happen while you’re still building the path. The experiments, detours, and small wonders that can quietly change everything.

Goals are important.

Wiggle room is essential.

If you’ve been wandering creatively lately, this one’s for you. ✨

⭐️ It’s the longest night of the year, which around here means extra imagination per square inch.

As a single mom, I’m finding magic in childhood wonder, lopsided crafts, half-baked ideas, and creative sparks that pop up between snacks and bedtime stories.

Read my latest post at www.wildimaginarium.com and let me know what small, strange, lovely bit of magic is visiting you right now?

Drop it in the comments and let’s make this a cozy constellation of ideas. 💫

Hello Lovelies!

As we approach the longest night of the year I invite you to join me in reflecting on the magic, joy, hope, and creativity that the winter solstice brings.

I’d love for you to read my newest post below and celebrate alongside me.

Wishing you a magical solstice!

A Solstice Blessing for Magic, Joy, Hope, and Creativity

On this sacred night, may you feel the quiet magic that surrounds you.

May joy find its way into your heart through the smallest, simplest moments.

May hope anchor you, even in the face of uncertainty, reminding you of brighter days to come.

May creativity flow effortlessly, allowing you to explore, dream, and express freely.

As the light returns, may you step forward with renewed energy and purpose, carrying these blessings into every corner of your life.

The wee one and I sought out some public art and playgrounds yesterday - now that Nashville weather is starting to be reasonable! The first stop was the public art bike rack "Pedal Petroleum" by William Buffet. We found this piece just past the cool skateboarding crew practicing at the Donelson Station - super cool on all fronts!
🚉
Love finding art in all sorts of special ways here in Nashville, and love that the skateboarders knew and showed us where to go!
🛹
Thanks for being my adventure buddy little kiddo! Now off to the playground!

TW: grief/loss

On August 9th my best friend, life amigo, and father of our wee laddie passed away suddenly at the age of 41. This is not how our story was supposed to go, and it is not how Tobias' story was supposed to end.

Though we are grieving, we have to find a way to move through this. So, a dear friend started a GoFundMe (https://gf.me/u/4wnwgj) in honor of the life Tobias wanted for our child, this campaign is specifically set up to help me care for Finn - now in the present and looking towards the future.

💗

Losing my best friend and suddenly becoming a single mum is daunting business at best, and utterly terrifying at worst, so I worked through my pride to ask you, our community, to help us land on our feet.

💗

If you have the means, please consider donating.
If you have the capacity, please consider sharing.
If you have donated, thank you so very much!
And if we havent connected recently, know I love you and am grateful that Finn and I share this world with you!

💗

We miss you T, every day - how could we not? - and though we are heartbroken, we continue. For “What is grief, if not love persevering?”
Rest in power, comfort, and glory, my love, knowing that we, and our love for you, persevere.

Fortune Favors the Bold!

The Wild Imaginarium began as an outlet for all of the ideas, materials, skills, and tools that Alexis had collected in her travels as a theatre producer, director, designer, and actor. Alexis has begun to gather a vast amount of knowledge based on many influences: History, Theatre, Art, Music, Myths and Legends, Cartoons, Geek Culture, Burlesque, Costuming, Cosplay, Science, and Nature (to name but a few). Collecting all of the sketches, blurbs, and scribbles is a full time job, and it may never be done, but the attempt is part of Alexis’ raison d’etre and is itself a fabulous journey!

So Alexis makes things, she creates things, she photographs and writes stories (an homage to the J. Peterman catalogs she used to read in breathy dramatic voices with her mom) and she hopes you like everything she makes!

The Wild Imaginarium is a place to play, and to create things that help others remember what it is to be delighted!
