2026: 24 bars - 1 winner. Let's dive In -
Battle on the Beach has always and WILL always be a community event over a volleyball tournament. Volleyball is the special sauce to getting your vampire ass out in the sunlight, and the intimacy of the different reps, DJs, and atmosphere every single week is to keep you coming back.
In 2024 we upped our team limit to 32 bars from 24. This added a myriad of issues and time limits. Games started at 12:30 instead of 1pm, and lasted till 7:10. I remember talking recap to .meister thinking that I wasn't too fond of the up in teams: in my mind the day was spread out a little bit more - people weren't engaging as intimately as years previous and had a more competitive and 'in and out' mentality. Clay talked me into 36 teams and hit me in my sweet spot - "We're eating at Blanco, and I wouldn't be here if you didn't add more teams last year so I got to meet the staff here. Isn't that the point?".
You're damn right it is Clay.
So we upped it to 36 teams.
The days for myself and some of the helpers turned into 9am-9pm shifts, DJs extended to longer slots, the rain absolutely fu**ed us. All of a sudden I found myself stressed during my favorite time of the year. That stress trickles down to the microphone, to the vibes, to the intimacy and sense of community. I don't want that and you don't want that.
All that is to say we tried it, and we're going back to our roots. As always this event is open to ALL NASHVILLE HOSPITALITY, whether you are playing or not.
I'm STOKED to have 24 eager teams that are hungry for volleyball and the community that is the Nashville service industry. See you on the sand May 12th π€
I'd love to hear your feedback on this in the comments!
