Today we wish Ronnie McDowell a Happy 76th Birthday! Ronnie began receiving notoriety in 1977 releasing "The King Is Gone" shortly after Elvis Presleys death. Ronnie released several hits including "New York Minute" and one of my personal favorites "Older Women"
Happy Birthday Ronnie!

Today back in 1963 was one of the most tragic days in country music history. We quite possibly may have lost the most beautiful female voice in country music of all time.
Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copus and Hawkshaw Hawkins were all killed when the plane they were travelling in flew into severe weather and crashed in a forest near Camden, Tennessee, 90 miles from the destination. The Country artists had left for Nashville in a Piper Comanche piloted by Copas' son-in-law (and Cline's manager), Randy Hughes. The three had perfromed at a benefit concert at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas for the family of disc jockey Cactus Jack Call, who had died the previous December in an automobile accident. Here's Patsy with her 1957 hit "Walking after Midnight"

a tribute to the wonderful legend.

Happy Monday everyone! Lets get this week started with a good ole blues ballad by the one and only Freddy Fender.
Freddy penned and recorded his first chart topper in 1959, labeling it "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights." Soon after his initial success he was convicted of Ma*****na possession and sentenced to prison. After serving 3 years of hard time, with the governor's intervention, Freddy was released from prison. The one stipulation to his parole was that he was not allowed to play music anywhere that served alcohol. I wonder how that turned out. 🤔
Anyways ladies and gentleman hit play on the video and take it on back 50 years or so with the one and only "El Bebop kid"

1975.. Digitally remastered with high-quality audio and AI remaster. Fender wrote and recorded "Wasted Days and Wasted Nights," a blues ballad, for Duncan Records in 1959, during the early stages of his career. He was in the process of perfecting his mesh of rockabilly and Tejano, and the song showc...

In 1981 a young man by the name of George Strait threw his hat in the circle of country music with his first ever major label single called "Unwound"
The lyrics of the song refer to a woman who he had wrapped around his finger that has become "unwound"
The song was wrote by Dean Dillon and Frank Dycus. We'll talk more about Dean Dillon in the near future as he is responsible for writing the majority of George Straits hits.
Until then, Here is the artist that will eventually be known as the king of country music singing his first single on the bow of a boat in 1982.
Enjoy!

Dan Seals was born and raised in Texas. He played a 12 string right handed guitar with his left hand, "upside down and backwards" as he would say.
Dan passed away in 2009. Leaving us this song and others including "Bop' a pop hit.
