Here is why your cake doesn't have to follow that rule.

Color in cake design does three things that white simply cannot. It anchors the visual palette of the entire reception. It gives the dessert table a focal point that reads across the room. And it creates a reveal moment the instant the cake comes out and every guest reaches for their phone.

This three-tier pastel pink did all three.

The key to making a colored wedding cake work at the luxury level is in the finish and the proportion. The shade has to be intentional, not an afterthought. The tiers have to be balanced. And the texture has to earn the color.

Timing is everything when you're getting married outside in Florida. The difference between a ceremony your guests talk about for years and one they spent sweating through in silence is often just a matter of choosing the right month.

Here's what a decade of planning outdoor weddings in Naples has taught us:

November through April is peak season for a reason. Low humidity, minimal rain, temperatures that actually allow your guests to breathe. Book early or lose your date.

May and October are the hidden windows. Shoulder season pricing, fewer crowds, and weather that surprises people who wrote them off entirely.

June through September is doable — but only with a planner who has done it before and a contingency plan built into every single contract.
