Some homes become landmarks, not because they’re grand, but because they capture the heart of a place. 🌹

If you’ve ever driven through Polpis in June, chances are you’ve slowed down for this view. Weathered cedar shingles softened by climbing roses, blooms spilling over every trellis, and a garden that feels as though it’s grown effortlessly over generations.

Of course, gardens like this aren’t effortless at all.

Climbing roses require thoughtful training, selective pruning, deadheading, feeding, and a watchful eye throughout the season. Every tie, every cut, and every decision shapes the display you’ll admire months later.

It’s a privilege to care for gardens that have become part of Nantucket’s landscape—preserving not just the plants, but the feeling they create for everyone who passes by.

Summer on the island doesn’t get much better than this. 🌸

Some plant combinations just feel right. 🌿✨

I don’t know if I’ll ever get tired of this pairing.

The crisp, evergreen structure of NewGen® boxwood, the bold, elegant foliage of Patriot hosta, and the soft, airy blooms of Tiarella create a planting that feels timeless. Each plant plays a different role, but together they strike the perfect balance of texture, form, and movement.

Even when Tiarella isn’t in bloom, its beautiful foliage weaves effortlessly through the bed, softening the edges of the hostas while the boxwood provides that year-round backbone every garden benefits from.

It’s simple. It’s calming. It’s sophisticated.

And every time I walk by this combination, it makes me smile.

Sometimes the most beautiful gardens aren’t about having the most plants—they’re about finding the combinations that let each one shine. 🤍🌿

A boxwood’s job is to hold the garden together. 🌿

In a world full of flowers, color, and seasonal excitement, boxwood quietly does the heavy lifting. It anchors the garden, creates structure, and gives the eye a place to rest among the abundance. Whether paired with a formal landscape or tucked into a romantic cottage garden, its evergreen presence provides year-round beauty and balance.

One of the many reasons we love boxwood? Deer tend to leave it alone, making it a reliable choice for gardens where browsing is a constant challenge. And while it asks for very little, a thoughtful pruning once or twice a season can transform it into a living sculpture—clean, timeless, and incredibly satisfying to shape.

With the right care, boxwood becomes more than just a shrub. It becomes the framework that allows everything else in the garden to shine.

And let’s be honest… there’s something deeply satisfying about turning a green shrub into a perfect sphere. ✂️💚

✨ A planter’s glow-up ✨

Swipe for the before and after.

The first photo was taken during the first week of August. The second? The first week of October.

Same planter. Same location. Almost no fuss.

This container received just a few hours of afternoon sun and plenty of dappled light throughout the day. It wasn’t pampered. It wasn’t constantly adjusted. In fact, it was one of those pots we almost forgot about—which, as it turns out, was exactly what it wanted.

The delicate maidenhair fern softened and spilled over the edges, the variegated foliage added texture and movement, and the begonia stepped up as the undeniable star of the show. By October, the entire arrangement had settled into itself, filling every inch of the container and creating the kind of fullness you simply can’t rush.

One of the greatest lessons gardening teaches is patience. Sometimes a planting doesn’t wow you on day one. Sometimes it quietly gathers strength until one day you stop in your tracks and think, “Wow.”

This planter did exactly that.

And honestly? She exceeded every expectation I had for her. 🌿

Some plants earn their place in the garden year after year, and Amethyst Falls Wisteria is absolutely one of them.

Unlike traditional wisteria, Amethyst Falls blooms on both old and new wood, meaning it continues to reward you with flowers even after pruning. That makes it far more forgiving, easier to maintain, and an incredible choice for pergolas, arbors, and garden structures where you want reliable color and fragrance.

These cascading lavender blooms transform a simple walkway into an experience—softly scented, romantic, and impossible to ignore.

A true statement piece and one of our favorite vines to incorporate into the landscape. 💜
