Nashville, TN — DJ Preston Lee is an anomaly. He's an award winning rapper, radio host and mobile DJ from Nashville with a degree in communications from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He completed his first radio internship for a group of stations in Idaho. As an intern he connected with the right people and found a niche for himself as a parody news/entertainment rapper. The country station pick

ed up five of his songs and played them during the morning show throughout his time as an intern. His passion for radio landed him another internship in a larger market at KSL in Salt Lake City. The Nightside Project played his song “Mitt Romney” giving him a chance to be heard on a much larger scale. Preston took a job as the weekend DJ on Z103, East Idaho's largest top 40 station and worked his way onto middays. He progressed as far as he could in the company and took a full time position as the afternoon personality for Star 98, a Hot AC station in the same town. After being promoted to the program director position and becoming a household name in East Idaho, he set his sights on a larger market...Boise. Impact Radio Group (now Iliad Media) learned about his talents and hired him as their midday radio host on Wild 101 and later promoted him to be their digital director in addition to his regular on-air shift. His voice and graphic design work has been heard and seen by tens of thousands of people throughout the Treasure Valley on the radio and on billboards. He continues to reinvent himself and is launching into a new phase of his career as a mobile DJ entertaining at weddings, corporate events and private parties all over the Northwest.

Have to shout out for teaching me this DJ trick.

I asked my couple before the wedding, “If there was one song you would sing for karaoke what would it be?”

Last night’s couple didn’t have a single country song on the dance playlist so dropping Toby Keith in the middle of open dance would have been the last choice I would have made, but…

The groom told me this would be his go-to karaoke track. So I took a chance and it turned into one of the most memorable moments from the entire night!

My first keynote speech! It's a 30 minute presentation about how to develop authentic relationships in the entertainment business.

This was for the Idaho DJ Collective, a group of ID based DJs. There were about 30 people in the audience at The Castle Gardens in Kuna, ID. We had cold sparks, lighting effects, music...it was an incredible production!

I'm planning to start speaking at some of the national DJ conferences around the country so this is my new audition tape.

Since its inception, DJ culture has always been highly competitive, secretive and sometimes downright combative. The energy was different in this room.

We shared battle stories, tips and insights openly. We offered support and guidance and even made new friends.
