Hi there, flower friends!
I’m so glad you found your way here. 🌸✨
Since this Florida summer hasn’t given me many blooms to share, I thought I’d take a minute to introduce myself and share a bit about my flower journey — which has taken quite the unexpected turn this year!
👇 Let’s rewind…
Last year I was growing armfuls of flowers in Northwest Indiana and planning a BIG season for 2025.
Then… we made the decision to move (back) to Florida! 💃🌴
I’m a little sad about the blooms I’m missing this summer — but I’m not sad about being back in Florida. I’ve always loved it here, and I’m so happy to be home again.
☀️ Of course, starting over in the heat of summer means no garden beds (yet) — and it’s definitely too hot to plant.
Florida fall is like the Midwest’s spring — our main growing season starts in October and runs through May/June before we take a summer break from the heat and pests.
Right now, I’m in prep mode — building raised beds, planning crop schedules, and dreaming of flowers.
Here’s what I’m planting first:
🌸 Dahlias
🌼 Snapdragons
🌸 Poppies
🌿 Feverfew
💗 Dianthus
Then from February through April, I’ll move into summer crops like:
🌻 Zinnias
🌾 Cosmos
🌞 Sunflowers
🔥 Celosia
🍭 Gomphrena
🌿 Amaranth
Things grow a little differently down here, but most flowers will thrive if you plant them at the right time. (Even if I had to say goodbye to peonies and lilacs — don’t get me started 🥲)
🌱 While I’m not a hobby grower, I am in a season of rebuilding. I like to call this R&D: research & development 📈🤓 My hope is to have flowers available locally starting in Spring 2026, depending on how this first season unfolds.
If you’re seeing fresh flowers on my feed and you’re local — feel free to message me!
And if you’re a fellow grower, I’d love to connect — I know so many of you have walked through big transitions, too.
Have you ever started over in a new zone? What helped you settle in again? 💬
