A sweet farming family in my community lost their matriarch earlier this month. They planned on doing a small, private service to spread her ashes by a tree overlooking the farm. Peaceful and simple, just like her.
My phone buzzed a few days before with a text that read, “I know it is last minute, but could you do a tree-mounted spray for us? It’s okay if you say no.”
Planning a celebration of life event while grieving is a stressful task. I never want to add to this stress, especially when I can actually help.
I quickly texted back, “I’m out of town and don’t have time to run to my wholesaler, but as long as you aren’t particular, I can use what blooms I have currently in season?”
“Yes - anything you put together is fine. Thank you.”
When I got back home the following day, I ran around like a wild woman cutting things with no clear vision of what I wanted to design yet. But I kept repeating, “Peaceful. Simple.” in my head.
I designed this spray in 45 minutes. While it’s not a traditional, formal design, it represents her peaceful and simple life that was spent on the farm with her family.
What a legacy. Continued prayers for the Deal family 💕
