A very honest end-of-August check-in from the flower field.

Some things are still blooming, some plans didn’t work out, and there is a lot that needs my attention as I try to shift toward fall—even though it still feels completely like summer here in Texas.

This isn’t the polished version of flower farming. It’s simply where things stand right now, what I’m working with, and what I’m hoping to do next. I want to share more of this side of Pretty Wild Farm, too—not only the finished bouquets and market tables.

Meet the newest members of Pretty Wild Farm… our all-natural pest control crew!

Surprise! These eight fluffy little cuties are Pekin ducklings.

Before long, they’ll be hard at work helping patrol the farm for insects, slugs, and other unwanted garden pests—the organic way. No chemicals, just eight tiny beaks with very big appetites.

And as if that wasn’t enough, they’ll eventually gift us with fresh duck eggs, too. Talk about pulling double duty!

We’re brand new to raising ducks, so we’re excited (and learning as we go). We can’t wait to watch these little fluff balls grow up and become part of the farm.

One more Saturday before I step away for a July break.
If your kitchen needs brightening, your table needs beauty, or your week just needs a little softness—tomorrow’s your chance.

Summer flowers are blooming now, gathered fresh and grown right here at home.

After this, they’ll be gone for a little while as I clean out crops and weeds and make way for new successions and healthy starts.

Come get your flowers. Plus, I want to see all my favorite people in the morning at the market.
