Jubilee Community Center

Jubilee Community Center We provide space and opportunity for a diverse and creative community to thrive. Jubilee Community Center, Inc. nonprofit was founded in 1997 by a group of community members and interfaith clergy.

The board took an under-utilized historic former Episcopal church property and decided to re-imagine it. A place where diverse neighborhoods could converge to address the needs of the community was born. JCC has continued to evolve as the community around us has transformed. Today, our mission is to be a catalyst for community growth and revitalization by emphasizing arts education and enrichment

Our partnership with Marjie Jean Kirkland started as a Dharma Yoga class called "Sanctuary Sundays." It was the first wellness programming for the Jubilee Community Center since the creation of The Sanctuary Brand. Marjie owned and operated a successful yoga studio, but was willing to gift her time teaching a donation based class in an area that would not otherwise have access. The Sanctuary expressed interest in learning how to offer the community more wellness options, and Marjie helped us look for an equitable and sustainable path to service the community and compensate the teachers. We've learned so much through our relationship, and for that we are eternally grateful! Today marks the day that the management of wellness transitions from Marjie to the Jubilee Community Center board as a part of our growth, and so Marjie can continue her own journey with MJ Yoga. but, STRESS NOT!!! for MJ will still be teaching classes with us, and all existing promotions will be honored. You'll probably see more special events like the Meditation Live-Sound Healing Concert Here's the February Schedule for Yoga glasses, and look out for other wellness options to be added this spring and summer!
