Pickup is at our garden at 301 Windmill Dr. Montevallo or delivery is available for an extra $5.

Mary and Joseph were the original Christmas travelers. They were young and probably nervous about what they would be facing with the coming birth of their first child.

Our first years of marriage were spent on a Marine Corps base in California. I married after the first semester of my sophomore year at the of Montevallo and found myself in California a few months later. There was major culture shock as I adjusted to marriage to a Marine and Southern California in the early 80’s.

Since we were so far from home and poor, we saved Steve’s leave for Christmas. Taking turns driving, we would drive straight from San Clemente to Montevallo. It took 36 hours. It seemed like every gas station speaker was playing “I’ll Be Home For Christmas .” I remember my homesickness and excitement every year to be going home.

Remember the many people who will be traveling in the next few days. But especially, remember our military families who are missing home and whose families miss them. Our military and their families give up so much to serve our country. I hope that you can be home this Christmas.
