The origin of "DJ Skully P" traces back to my childhood. When I was in elementary school, my name, Paul, inspired a nickname that stuck. A friend of mine used to call me "Skull" because it rhymed with Paul, and, being a skinny kid, he joked that I looked a bit like a skeleton. The nickname stuck, and "Skull" became a part of my identity among friends.
As I grew older and discovered my love for music, I naturally gravitated toward DJing. My earliest equipment wasn’t anything fancy—two belt-driven Soundesign turntables and a Realistic mixer from Radio Shack. It was basic, but it was enough to get me started on this incredible journey. I’d spend hours honing my skills, spinning records I picked up from local record stores like Quonset Hut and Camelot Records. These were the places where I’d dig through vinyl, looking for tracks that spoke to me and would eventually speak to the crowds.
When I began DJing, I needed a name that reflected my style and personality. "DJ Skull" immediately came to mind, as it was tied to my nickname from childhood. Over time, though, it evolved. "DJ Skull" became "Skully," and eventually, "Skully P" felt just right. The "P," of course, came from my first name, Paul.
Now, as DJ Skully P, that childhood nickname has grown into a brand that represents years of passion, growth, and dedication to creating unforgettable experiences through music. From humble beginnings with basic equipment and a love for vinyl to crafting personalized soundtracks for events, I’ve stayed true to the essence of who I am—someone who loves to connect with people through music.
