Teens Grow Greens Take Over Weber’s Greenhouses
With the Grand Opening of Teens Grow Greens at Webers Greenhouses, Teens Grow Greens will continue to grow in three major ways:
First, Teens Grow Greens will grow “A Home Base for Innovation.” Weber’s provides an experiential learning facility where the Teens in our programs can practice their agricultural and entrepreneurship skills. The experiential learning facility inspires Teens to grow individually, but also as an entrepreneur. This year, Travon, a 2017 Graduate of Teens Grow Greens, plans to set up a small cafe in the greenhouse to sell his entrepreneurship product, Joe Veggie Go to Webers’ customers. Travon is here today, visit his table to learn more about his great product.
The second way that Teens Grow Greens will grow is in the post-graduation support provided to Teens. From check-ins and surveys, we found that many Graduates wanted to continue employment with Teens Grow Greens after they graduated from the nine-month internship. The Graduates desired to utilize the skills they developed in the internship while maintaining the relationships with staff and other Teens in the program.
Teens Grow Greens also plans to grow its community connections and become a “Community Hub.” Teens Grow Greens will hold a visioning session in October with community, business and non-profit leaders to discuss how Weber’s can best serve not only the mission of Teens Grow Greens, but also the needs of the community.

We will be starting plants from seed but you can also purchase seedlings. Support your local greenhouses such as Webers Greenhouse powered by Teens Grow Greens or maybe Kellners Greenhouse Inc. We would love to hear about your favorite greenhouse too!
A big congratulations to Teens Grow Greens who received a $100,000 grant from Impact100 Greater Milwaukee.
This generous amount will help their students and staff educate the community and customers of Webers Greenhouse where they learn to grow fresh produce year-round.
Speaking of Teens Grow Greens... they'll be at our Capitol Drive store this Saturday from 9am-1pm selling herbs, succulents, starts and more. Stop over and support this fantastic program.
It’s time to transplant the rest of the seedlings: celery, melons, pumpkins, winter squash, tomato, eggplant, and peppers. #growfoodwithwic
If you didn’t get the chance to start your plants from seed you can always purchase seedlings. Try to support local greenhouses like Webers Greenhouse powered by Teens Grow Greens and Kellner Greenhouse.
just placed my first order to pick up curbside!
When will your online shopping be available?
We always experiment with growing new veggies that work in school gardens. This season we discovered Mexican sour gherkin at Webers Greenhouse. Thank you Teens Grow Greens! This veggie made the cut✂️ The timing of planting and harvesting this tiny cuke is perfect for schools:
• they’re prolific producers;
• picking them feels like a treasure hunt;
• their lemony flavor and crunch are a delight;
• plus, they look like Barbie doll watermelons.
Anyone else grow these? Tell us how you prepared them. We’re trying pickling right now.

Thank you for the free growing kit. The lemon balm seeds are going to be amazing, and I can’t wait to reap all of the benefits. I was worried about what kind of seeds would be given away, and I felt like you knew I needed them. ❤️
