Ray MD and Tomy Villacorta make return to Ole Music with “Digital Lover.” Here is what they had to share when we followed up with them days after their latest release.

Q: How did the collaboration first come together for this release?

Ray: Tomy and I are always collaborating on new projects, and it all comes together very naturally. We’ve got great musical chemistry, and the results always seem to connect on the dance floor.

Tomy: With my good friend Ray. We’ve always had great musical chemistry, and the project came together naturally from that.

_____

Q: If you had to describe ‘Digital Lover’ in three words only, what would they be?

Ray: Energetic, Raw, and Groovy.

Tomy: Groovy, Different, and Vibe.
____

Q: How has your sound evolved leading up to this release on Ole Music?

Ray: Leading up to this release on Ole Music, my sound has evolved by stripping away the unnecessary and focusing on what truly moves the crowd: raw energy, refined grooves, and pure underground culture.

Tomy: My sound has evolved a lot leading up to this release on Ole Music. I’ve been exploring more texture, groove, and atmosphere, and I feel this project reflects a more refined version of my style today.

Angelo Raguso and FAW9 make their debut on Ole Music with “Sombraje,” and we wanted to catch up with him to find out more about the process behind the project.

Q: What was the first element of ‘Sombraje’ that clicked in the studio?

A: The groove was the first thing that locked in. We had this really minimal rhythm going on, and once we started playing with chopped and pitched vocals, the track instantly found its character. Everything else came after that pretty naturally.

_____

Q: Did the track evolve naturally, or did it go through multiple versions before reaching the final mix?

A: Yes, I revisited the track over and over. At first I wasn’t sure if the trumpet synth should be the main element of the track, but after working on it for a while, this version ended up being the one that felt the most right to me most likely focus on minimal-tech drums and vocals
____

Q: What does it mean to release ‘Sombraje’ on Ole Music?

A: It’s a real honor for me because I’ve been following work for many years. Having the chance to release my music on Ole Music means a lot to me. First of all I want to thank David, then for taking care of the release, and the whole Ole Music team for the support and trust in the project.

Chris Campos and Ryan Michaels make their debut on Ole Music with a Tech House weapon titled, “You Know Me.” Here is what they had to say when we caught up with them just a few days after the release.

Q: What inspired “You Know Me”, and how did that vibe shape the track?

A: Ryan: Honestly, “You Know Me” came from the music I grew up with — those classic 90’s reggae tunes that just hit different. We wanted to take that nostalgic vibe and flip it into a groovy house track. It’s full of drums, energy, and that sunny feeling that makes you want to move.

A: Chris: “You Know Me” was inspired by ’90s dancehall music. We both grew up listening to it, so bringing that energy into our workflow felt natural. That vibe really shaped the whole direction of the track.

Q: How did “You Know Me” evolve throughout the creative process in studio?

A: Ryan: It all started with the sample — that was the spark. Once we found it, the groove just built itself. We kept layering drums and percussion until it had that live, bouncy energy we wanted. It started smooth, ended up with serious punch. Every session took it to another level.

A: Chris: Originally, we wanted to use the hook from “Romi” by Beenie Man so people would instantly recognize it. But while we were working, the loop accidentally wrapped back to the beginning of the track where he was just talking. We both felt that part was way more interesting than the main hook, so we ran with it. Honestly, it was an amazing happy accident.

Q: What is one thing that you have taken away from your experience working together on “You Know Me?”

A: Ryan: This track reminded me that old sounds can always find new life. Pulling from 90’s reggae and turning it into something fresh showed me how powerful nostalgia can be when you mix it with your own style. Respect the roots, create the future.

A: Chris: Working with Ryan showed me how deeply he understands music. He is very strong at songwriting (involving lyrics) and comes up with such creative ideas. Overall, he has influenced me to give that a try.
