Here is just a few of the engagement sessions that we submitted to one of our favorite wedding media publications. A very exciting time for us with bigger dreams coming to fruition all in divine timing. Celebrations will be in order this weekend since knowing our fine art has captivated two thousand humans (not robots since it was done organically) is a pretty big deal for us. Sam and Adrian didn’t want a big wedding. They wanted their people gathered together in one place celebrating their love. They surprised their guests with an actual ceremony, and oh did they celebrate. Love filled the house and I’m quite certain the entire neighborhood too.

As we started their maternity session, Mariana looked back at me and said “don’t take out my stretch marks… I mean, it’s part of this whole thing right?” “It sure is” i told her with a laugh and the biggest smile of approval.

I asked them to pick a favorite book off the shelf. Carlos quickly realized the shelving was a little off. As he admitted to their late night hustle to ensure the nursery was photo worthy. I laughed, and told him to do what he needed to do.

I’ve known these two since their engagement and there has always been a sensation felt in the room when he looks at her. This look filled with of unconditional love and admiration. The kind you expect on a wedding day, but as I’ve come to know, it’s a regular part of their life.

As he fixed the shelves in their daughters room, she stood back to watch and I saw her give that very same look to him. These moments are why, why I love what I do and why I love who I do it with.

Camila + Jovany decided to have portraits for their backyard wedding taken before their ceremony commenced. Soaking in some intimate moments together is a decision our couples never regret, also in this case- toddler approved.

As this session came to an end, the most perfect sunset glow crept in through a window “ok a couple more over here” i said.
When I showed her where to stand I could see confusion on her face, this it was an awkward small space. Being a long time client, she didn’t question a thing, just trusted my intuition and went with it. Trust us, we got you.

Elcka inquired about a family session themed around her son who had joined the army, coming home for the holidays. They also welcomed his girlfriend into the session with open arms, and put full trust in me to capture their family dynamic. They joked, laughed, teased, and loved. I quickly learned their daughter was joining the Navy next year, and it was certain these precious (& printable) moments were the best gift to commemorate their sweet time spent together. I can only imagine they will hang on their walls for their families future generations to adore.
Oh, also I found an Egret on my car who didn’t want to budge, and believe everyone can appreciate its magnificence so please do.

Being a new boy mom made this wedding hit a bit different. I’m proud of myself for capturing their day despite the fact that my eyes were watering non-stop. I’m not sure why I took it upon myself to be as emotionally involved in their day as their wedding guests (made up of family and life-long friends, both of which I am not) but as a mom it’s hard not to imagine your own son finding such sweet happiness and being surrounded by such a powerful tribe. There was so much pure emotion on this day and I truly can’t wait to share some of the goodness. It’s good, so good.

Note to parents wanting lifestyle family photos: do not overthink things. Take some notes from @vanandthefam who made a regular evening at home into fun memories captured. There is so much magic in simplicity. Best part, savored moments in the place you spend the most time together & when the sun goes down bath and beds are just around the corner.

Christmas is almost here, and I can’t help but think of the people within each family that get it all done. After a rainy day reschedule, this family was able to pull off a city themed holiday session- while one partner took a break from work right before the other took the boys for a check up. Adrienne, is a superwoman for making time to make memories with the biggest smile on her face and warmth in her heart. If you needed a sign to get things done, this is it.

Daniela + Luis had a small backyard wedding at dusk. There were so many intimate moments captured, I decided to keep them as such these photo carousels have a limit and each was deserving of their own space entirely. Either way, I hope these moments make you feel the warm love that surrounded their night.

We love when our @frontstepproject family’s reach back out to us. We met under lockdown from 20ft away and photographed them on their front steps from the street. This time around we got to get up close and personal. Not sure if you could tell, but we had a lot of fun. We gotta say, the Vidal’s win Christmas this year with this holiday card shoot #tropicalchristmas

We’re over here barely surviving through our busiest season ever so please excuse our lack of posting, delayed replies and the bags under our eyes. We’re marrying these two off this weekend after almost three years of working together (thanks Covid for all the longterm relationships). We’re grateful for all our clients that stuck through the crazy of the last two years, wish us and our couples luck as we close out 2021 weddings this weekend with a double header (also, thanks to Covid).

Amanda was one of our best friends in high school. One of those beautiful humans you can loose touch with and pick up right where you left off. Jen did photos of her family not so long ago and now I (Kari) had the pleasure of capturing them this time around. My true passion- family photos but make it fun. I cannot stress enough to our future clients, you will get frame worthy photos no matter what- but nothing compares to letting you & your family be themselves and fully trust in us to preserve this time, these ages + milestones as you will want to remember them. What an honor to share so much love and laughter with a dear friend and her smart, sweet, and silly boys.

When another photographer approaches you to have their family portraits taken- it’s an honor to say the least. Annie’s vision was definitely in line with what we try and tell our clients- the best kind of family portraits are the ones where you have fun with each other. The beach is their place so we took it next level and went into the sea. Sounds so nice right? It sure was.

First session with newborn twins and it was so much more than I expected. Taking care of two babies at once is such a juggling act my jaw dropped at how crazy and fast it went, and then again at the beautiful imagery that came out of it! The way Cleo’s face lit up when her mom called her “queeeeen,” the way Phoenix smiled from ear to ear knowing he was the main attraction once his sister fell asleep, these moments will forever touch me. Tears swelled up in my eyes when Amy told me they each have their own song to fall asleep to, as she placed each in her arms to sing it. You see, I took their portraits in their first apartment as a couple, their maternity photos, and now the four of them in their new home together as a family- these are the fleeting moments that will be forever a part of them, and me. Pinch me, I’m living a dream.

Katie and Eric planned the most simple and sweet beach wedding ceremony before covid struck, it was such a joy to finally make it happen!
The undeniable affection that beams through their eyes when they look at each other had their guests filled with emotion. Among a crowded beach these moments felt as if we were the only ones, caught up in admiration of their love. Shoutout to their friends + family who helped make it all possible.

This sweet family came to Miami from Kansas. They found us and decided to get some photos done while they were in town. It was Labor Day weekend, the beach was packed but we made the most of tiny slivers of space between the crowds. Looking at these photos it feels as intimate as ever. So thankful they found us and took a leap of faith making memories they’ll never forget.

These deserve a spotlight on #fatherhoodfriday because we’ve never met a father who wants to get photos taken.
It makes things especially difficult when your toddler won’t listen and wants nothing less than to sit still for a photo, right? Want some advice? Roll with it!
Play it out with them, tune into their joy for life- you’ll be thankful you did. We promise.

Oh, and don’t forget to thank your partner for setting up a session with us because admit it- you kinda had fun and now those memories can live on your walls.

Remember when they were so little and helpless, when we worried about that soft spot on the top of their head or how we would carefully manage the time between feedings and naps just to try to keep the peace but then you remember you also have a toddler and what is peace? All jokes aside, give us all the newborn/toddler duos, it’s not for the faint of heart but nothing this cute should come easy.
