Saturday in the Soil: Planting for a Color-Filled Spring

What does planting 1,000 tulip bulbs look like? A whole lot of digging... and one very dedicated farmer looking like a blueberry (Jen’s daughter’s words, not ours!).

Fall is for planning, and tulips are top of the list. We’ve carefully selected a stunning mix for the 2026 season — from soft early pastels to lush double blooms and ending with show-stopping ruffled parrot varieties.

Every bulb we tuck in today is a promise of beauty to come.

Saturday in the Soil: Bulb Planting Tips

It’s the perfect weekend to get those spring bulbs in the ground! Whether you're tucking in tulips, daffodils, or alliums, planting now means a colorful reward come spring.
A few tips to make the most of your planting:
Pick a sunny spot – most bulbs love well-drained soil and full sun
Plant at the right depth – a good rule: 2–3 times the bulb’s height
Pointy side up – roots down, shoots up!
Water after planting – this helps settle the soil and wake the bulbs up
Mulch lightly – helps insulate from winter swings in temperature
Think of it as a little love letter to your future self — plant now, smile later!

The Flower Cart is Open — and it’s looking festive!
Today’s cart is stocked with dried floral pumpkins in a range of colors and textures — perfect for your Thanksgiving table, a hostess gift, or simply bringing that cozy autumn feeling indoors.
These long-lasting arrangements are made with love and care, using seasonal blooms from our field and dried elements that add charm and structure. Swing by for something pretty — while supplies last!

Cart is self-serve and open daylight hours thru the weekend.

Maxine the cat has been “helping” us arrange pumpkins this week (mostly supervising naps and knocking things over). She gives her paw of approval.
