(“WIW”), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, is to lessen the burden on the City of Marinette, Wisconsin by providing promotional services to or for organizations seeking to hold events in the City of Marinette and the Marinette Recreation and Event Center, Marinette, Wisconsin. Marinette/Menominee community needs assessments consistently note that one of the highest needs in the community are unique a
ctivities for residents to engage. It is frustrating, and unfortunate, that residents often feel the need to travel to Appleton or Green Bay, or even further south, for a unique night on the town. WIW was formed solely for the purpose of addressing this perceived need. While in its infancy, WIW has brought two (2) amateur boxing events to the Marinette Recreation Center (“REC”) in the last two (2) years as well as a mixed martial arts competition (“MMA”). The events have been well received with close to 3,000 spectators attending the events. Not only has it provided a night of excitement for local residents but many of the spectators also travel to our area, often at great distances, to experience our events – spending money in the area on hotel, food, and drink. It is worth noting that visitors to the area regularly note of having left with a higher opinion of our community because of the REC and the events brought to the community by WIW. In addition to bringing events to the REC, WIW has also co-sponsored a free concert at Stephenson Island where the GLAM Band performed. That event was also exceedingly well received and was attended by over 600 spectators. WIW is always on the lookout for other events that could be brought to the REC or the community as well. It is worth noting that, in addition to bring events to the area, WIW also assists local charities – many who have assisted us as well. WIW has donated thousands of Dollars to local charities over the past two (2) years and hopes to continue that pattern of gifting well into the future.
