Which client do you think places a higher value on the MC / DJ and musical entertainment for their celebration?

(Guess which client had a MUCH better party!!!)

Showing respect and appreciation to your entertainer guarantees an amazing effort and “above and beyond” attitude toward making your party a huge success!

Don’t just shove your DJ on a 6’ table in the corner (hey - there are speakers and lights, too - plan for space for them.)

A great MC and DJ will help deliver a party that will be truly memorable - place him / her in a Focal Point and get the most impact for your investment!❤️🎅🏻😃

YOUR WEDDING SEATING CHART DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A NIGHTMARE!!!
#DJDanoWeddings #DJDanoAtlanta #DJDanoMarietta #Celebrationis

Though planning a wedding can be stressful in and of itself, there is a special kind of frustration that comes along with creating the wedding seating chart. Perhaps this has to do with the fact that math is involved in the process. You only have so much space at each table, and this limits where you can place a person. An uneven number of people can transform a simple task into hours of struggle. Instead of losing your mind making edit after edit to your plan, it can be beneficial to explore some advice.

SHAPES AND SPACE
Before you can create an arrangement that works, you need to know a few things. The size of the venue and how many people it can accommodate are two things you need to know early on. Beyond this, it helps to have an idea of the table shapes in the reception room. Some venues offer options when it comes to the size and shape of each table. This can be quite useful to have control over when you are looking for the most sensible way of arranging the room.

Some venues may also allow you the option of bringing your own tables. There are a few clever ways to maximize a room if this is a choice available to you. If you’re someone who finds the idea of communal eating appealing, then you might be able to solve your seating issue by hauling in a few long tables. A smaller wedding may be better suited for cabaret-type tables that fit groups of four. Play around with shapes and your spacing to get a good idea of what is possible.

FRIENDS, ENEMIES & FRENEMIES
While you and your significant other are probably on good terms with all of the people who will be attending your wedding, there could very well be bad blood between guests. This is probably one of the more annoying factors that can come into play when you are arranging your tables. When one uncle has been feuding with an aunt for years, you may be concerned that seating them near one another is inviting trouble. Though it may be important to consider at times, you definitely don’t want to lose sleep over this.

Your guests are capable of controlling themselves. Don’t shoulder the burden of their dramas by allowing any bad blood to negatively impact the planning process. Instead, reach out to anyone you think might be a problem in advance. Speak openly with them and explain that you do not want any trouble at your wedding. This will help get everything on the proverbial table and give you some peace of mind. Plus, if anyone acts out during the event, you can politely remind them that you already spoke about this.

DITCH THE ASSIGNMENTS ALTOGETHER!
You may also be able to ditch the seating arrangement altogether. While having assigned wedding seating can be beneficial when you have caterers, plenty of couples are opting for alternative ways of providing food to guests. If you’re using food trucks or buffet-style meals, then just let your guests choose their own seats. It takes a lot off your shoulders and helps to create an easier experience for all. Plus, wedding guests rarely stay seated for long over the course of the night since they are busy dancing and mingling with one another.

While creating a solid wedding seating arrangement might be stressful, there are a few simple ways to minimize the frustration and see solid results. Give yourself a chance to consider all of your options in advance. Factors like the shape of the tables and the way you’re serving food can play into what works for your event. In no time, you’ll be able to create a system that works best for the needs of everyone involved.

A couple paid $800 for wedding photos so dark and grainy that their iPhone pictures came out better

We have no sympathy for this bride.
This is exactly what happens you hire a photographer based on one recommendation, without a portfolio, without a written contract, and a price that’s WAY below the market norm.

While there’s some good advice in the article from a planner, nobody is sharing the harsh reality of wedding professionals .... NEVER choose the cheapest vendor!!!

Nothing is more important than the photographer - splurge on a GREAT wedding photographer, and scrap the $800 for chair covers, $500 for crappy champagne, and $300 centerpieces - those will be gone & forgotten an hour after the reception.

But the photos and videos will live forever (along with memories of the party / celebration / fun / DJ), so prioritize on photography and entertainment - you’ll be happier in 10 years and won’t even remember the $500 cheese tray!

If you need a referral to excellent wedding photographers, message me at [email protected] - I’ve seen the best and the worst!

A couple's wedding photos came out blurry, grainy, and underexposed. We asked a wedding planner how to avoid unfortunate wedding photo scenarios.

August 24, 2019 was an amazing wedding day ... but not for the reasons you'd normally think (dancing, music, etc.)

I was apprehensive about accepting this wedding as MC and DJ because of my perceived cultural differences. The Bride was 800 miles and we would only chat via e-mail ... the Groom was a professor in Atlanta and access was limited. There were some language foibles to overcome, and I was unfamiliar with 90% of the music they were considering.

Both sets of parents and some other family members would be flying into the US from China - many for their first-ever visit - and I was told to expect zero participation from them.

The wedding (I was doing ceremony, cocktails and reception in three different locations with three different sound systems) had the potential to be a complete disaster.

But I had been highly recommended by one of my favorite clients / venues / planners, who trusted me above all others to accommodate this sweet young Chinese couple, so even though I was about to step WAY out of my Comfort Zone ........ challenge accepted!

"Leap And The Net Will Appear," right?

I can't remember the last time I placed so much pressure on myself to not just succeed, but to EXCEL in the process of creating an amazing celebration for both American and Asian guests from ages 16 to 86.

And one last challenge ... there were only THIRTY guests expected!! 😳😳😳 (28 showed up).

I did an inordinate amount of preparation with the music, and actually learned enough rudimentary Chinese to translate some of the song titles and artists that were listed in my Virtual DJ software in Chinese.

With the distance and schedule differences between the bride and the groom, combined with the normal differences in taste and "vision" typical of any engaged couple planning a wedding, there were a LOT of changes in itinerary, music and other logistics right up to the morning of the wedding.

Every note was made in pencil until the final printing of the itinerary 4 hours before the ceremony (but I had access to another printer on site, just in case!)

AND THIS ... the groom was anticipating very little dancing, so we were prepared to play FIVE GAMES to help create energy at the three-hour reception!! (I had a van full of options and was ready to become a full-blown game show host if necessary!).

After cocktails and most of the dinner, we played "Walla Balla" because it was the groom's favorite (the Bridesmaids and Bride Team kicked the collective butts of the Groomsmen / Groom team), and I started to manipulate the dance floor with "Uptown Funk." Success so far!

Immediately after Bruno Mars, I kicked into a 128 BPM Chinese pop song that I still can't pronounce that had people RUNNING to the dance floor!!! (Even the "no-participation parents) ... and I was visibly stunned! Of course I mentally took full credit for lucking into the right choice, even though it was written in Chinese.😂

We immediately ditched the idea of any further games, and I confidently continued to balance the dance floor (fast, medium and slow), using ONLY the beats-per-minute number in my software and some selected memory from previously listening to the playlist.

Obviously these dignified, reserved wedding guests from a foreign land were suppressing their inner John Travoltas and Backstreet Boys, and it only took the "right songs at the right time" to release those party animals! (Yes, it's a cliche, but it's the truth!)

A sweaty, exhausted, smiling group of guests dancing to "Last Dance" by Donna Summer two hours later gave me the euphoric feeling that only an entertainer can appreciate after a "performance" and the lights come up.

I admit that much of the success of the celebration was nothing but Dumb Luck, Prayers, Educated Guesses and Clean Living, but somehow I helped to create the "best wedding reception we've ever seen" by spending a LOT of time in preparation.

I believe that Jaiyaing and Louis recognized my efforts and dedication to our partnership, because their online reviews were unexpected and so flattering that I was blushing.

SO BRIDES ... stop using PRICE as your only measurement of choice when choosing your Master of Ceremonies and DJ for the wedding! Find a dedicated entertainment "Partner" who will work with you closely to take your "vision" and help turn it into reality! In the MC / DJ, you really *DO* "Get what you pay for," and there's great value and ROI at the higher-priced top professionals!

Just ask Jaiyaing and Louis! ❤️

LIDL HAS ARRIVED IN GEORGIA! 😃😃😃 And DJ Dano Atlanta Entertainment (#DJDanoAtlanta) has partnered with Lidl to provide DJ and Master of Ceremonies services for all spectacular store grand openings in 2019!! 😃😃😃 If you're never heard of Lidl ... or been inside of a store ... they've been described as an Aldi On Steroids! Lidl is getting ready to totally change the shopping experience in Georgia and the entire southeast US. Don't take my word for it ... talk to any of the 300 people in line when the doors opened earlier this week ... some of whom had waited in sub-zero weather since 3:00 am for gift cards for early arrivers. Or watch consumer guru #ClarkHoward's guided tour of the Marietta / Powder Spring Road store. You'll see me under the blue tent in front, to the right of the balloon arch and the ribbon-cutting. And me and my neon green headband are moving around in the background of his open and closing shots. It was fun to chat with Clark for a few minutes after the opening while we were warming up - I learned about the huge threat that Lidle poses to Kroger, Publix, and even WalMart, price-wise. Next opening ... SNELLVILLE on Wednesday, January 30 ... Come see me and be ready to change how you shop!!! Get there early for a gift card and other goodies!!!
I saw this at Kohl's today, and you were the first thought that came to mind!
