Y'all I LOVE the stage photos at !!
I don't like watching the stage walk cause I was so nervous I didn't hear anything the wonderful was saying so I didn't follow any of the great directions she was giving me. But I could barely hear anything over my own heartbeat and my inner montra "Don't cry. Don't cry. Don't cry" 😂
I am so grateful to have a chance to make cosplays and compete. And at some point I'm sure I'll get more used to being on stage.
Some info about this build.
First, it's like mostly craft foam from
Shoes, belt, dragon skull, shoulder pauldron and skull, "leather" vest, gauntlets, and the decorations and details on the axe are all craft foam. The base of the axe head is insulation foam board and the base of the handle is PVC pipe.
The design was tricky.
I couldn't find any artwork of Grog at higher levels with all his magic items. So I took the artwork for each item and tried to duplicate it! Then I looked at hundreds of pictures of Grog and tried to design what I think his nonmagical clothing would look like if he were a woman.
I have gotten some pretty disheartening feedback from people and judges in the past about entering genderbent cosplays into craftsmanship competitions, and while I understand that people have differing opinions, I think it's bu****it.
I'm so happy that the judges .pixie.princess , .cos , and were not only engaged, excited to be there, and knowledgeable about crafting and cosplay, but were also open-minded and willing to overlook "character accuracy" for the sake of passion and craftsmanship. They are so amazing and I was so honored to have them look at my work!
So I'm really excited to have my first placement award in a craftsmanship competition! Especially considering how badass all the other cosplayers were!
