About this event

We are going to be commemorating the 21st Anniversary of 9/11 in a special way. At Cobb International Airport we will be holding Airaoke! A local karaoke contest. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Firefighters (via the Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund). The format will be like The Price is Right. We will call 10 singers an hour to perform. In the 9:00 hour, we will bring back 4 of the 40 singers for the finals. While votes are being tabulated, we will have a moment of silence and possibly sing God Bless the USA. The winner of the contest will receive $1000.00 in cash. Only 40 singers will be chosen from all applicants. Silent Auction and door prizes will also be included in the commeration.

Airaoke's performers are expected to bring vocal experience, a polished stage presence, and professionalism to the competition. Evaluating that caliber of performance takes a judging panel with genuine technical mastery, industry credibility, and deep roots in the performing arts.

A sincere THANK YOU to our five distinguished judges for Airaoke 2026! For lending your time, sharp ears, and professional expertise to make this year’s competition an unforgettable success:

🎤 Sara Branch: Charter GSOC soloist, classically trained bel canto vocalist, certified operatic adjudicator, and sales training business founder who brings a trained classical ear to score dynamic range, pitch, and phrasing.

🎤 Suzanne Tucker: Executive Director of the Georgia Symphony Orchestra, Master of Music Education, founder of Glitter Bomb, and veteran worship arts director with an eye for complete stagecraft.

🎤 Scott Lamphere: Seasoned Georgia Symphony Orchestra Chorus vocalist and worship leader bringing extensive adjudication experience across music, talent, and fitness competitions.

🎤 Beth Johnson: Cobb County music educator of 21+ years, church production director, and touring GSOC ensemble performer fresh off an international tour to the UK and Ireland.

🎤 Wally Ziprick: Retired US Army Reserve Major, Eagle Scout, CPA, and 19-season GSOC singer who has performed on guitar, piano, and clarinet since 1968.

With our judges panel holding 50% of the scoring power and the audience delivering the other half, every performance faced authentic, experienced critique. Their involvement helped turn a night of incredible music into real, measurable support for 9/11 Fallen Hero Project to honor our first responders.

Twenty-five years ago today, our world changed forever. We made a promise to the bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice of the first responders and service members who ran toward danger on September 11th.

Keeping that promise requires action, and that is exactly why the 9/11 Fallen Hero Project was born.

Based in Acworth, Georgia, the non-profit organization works directly with police and fire departments to provide vital training, aid, and operational support that enhances their capabilities from within. Alongside departmental development, they design specialized training programs and deliver direct aid to active police, fire, and military personnel, as well as critical relief to injured first responders and their families.

The physical and emotional demands on our protectors did not end in 2001, and neither did the responsibility to equip and care for those still answering the call.

Airaoke started in an airplane hangar with a simple idea: trade traditional charity formats for a night that brings our community together through live music, camaraderie, and shared purpose. The heartbeat of this fundraising event has always belonged to the people pictured here, the dedicated team and advocates behind the 9/11 Fallen Hero Project.

To our first responders, our veterans, and the families who sacrifice alongside them: we see you, we honor you, and we stand with you today and every day.
