Peony Tips😍!

Peonies=Patience Tips.

These babies wanted to just bloom.

We’ll have 100+ peonies planted by November ‘26.
Several varieties that are perfect for cut flower farmers & zone 5b.

Very early, early, mid, late & VERY late blooming varieties to extend the season.

Patience is required to harvest these beauties to their full potential.

2-3 years after planting minimum!

We’ve removed several buds so these peonies can concentrates on growing strong root system. Some though still bloomed, lol!

Plug Planting Tips👍!

#1 Many hands make light work:). These boys knocked it outta the park!

#2 Plug Planning BEFORE Plug Planting. Planning begins in the fall, ordering by February, staggered shipments, depending on flower type, if they need a “cool start” (yes, think end March beginning April for some).

#3 Learn about what drives flowering. Yes soil health, sun, location important, BUT also learning about plant hormones that drives flowering. Day light length, temperature & more.

#4 Prep your beds or areas of planting. This year for our raised beds (20 beds, 5 feet wide by approximately 40 feet long) we opted for no till method. Amended top of beds with compost & cow manure, BX Promix W/ mycorrhizae, & Epsoma organic flower fertilizer.

#5 Cover lanes with Quick Plant fabric from .se
pre burned patterned fabric holes 4x8” & 2x10” patterns to minimize w**ds. Last year no w**d fabric which aresulted in enormous w**d pressure and cost in w**ding.

#5 Use small auger on long arm piece attached to drill to loosen up soil in each planting hole, or a lil hand shovel, even a butter knife.

#6 “Harden Off” plugs for few days after arrival so they acclimate to sun, wind, temperature of location where being planted. Outside fews hours first day, next day more hours , then overnight sleepover 💤💤.

#7 Planting day! Please be flexible if heat wave is on day you planned on planting.

#8 Overhead watering plugs in beginning to establish..THEN drip irrigation.

#9 Patience & enjoying watching your plugs grow😍.
