We tasted this Nebbiolo bottling a few weeks back. Fresh berries and floral notes with an herbal element. Great structure for a $20 Nebbiolo from Piedmont. Exceptional value at that price point. This w**e is from the Roero DOCG. Have you enjoyed any w**es from Roero or Piedmont recently? I feel this appellation is typically associated with white w**e made from the Arneis grape. **e

A few of the selections we had on the table last week for Thanksgiving. Each of these w**es were unique and paired well with a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. These particular bottles were also all $25 and under. (Left to right) Lacryma Christi is from Campania region of Italy. From the Volcanic soil of Vesuvius by Naples. Piedirosso is the grape varietal for this bottling. Red fruit like cherry and raspberry and a bit of spice on the nose. Mineral-driven with a peppery finish, medium body at most. We served this slightly chilled. It was a hit at the dinner table. The 2nd bottle is a blend of Piedmontese varietals. Barbers, Freisa , and Grignolino. Sour raspberry on the nose and a bit of earth. This w**e is organic and technically a natural w**e/. We bought it in Bergen County for $15 on the shelf of w**e shop. Excellent value! The last w**e is from Greece. The varietal is Xinomavro , from the Macedonia region of Greece. Very interesting this w**e was open on the table when we arrived. It was medium -bodied and dry. Complex , yet delicate. Paired well with a small mix of antipasto. All 3 options I thought were delicious and interesting. Fun alternatives for Thanksgiving reds that are all priced well. **e **e **e

Nothing like w**e and pizza on a Monday night to help start the week. We brought this bottle with us to one our favorite local BYOB, La Sicilia. The varietal, Aglianico is generally found in Southern Italy. Campania and Basilicata in particular are known for Aglianico, and this bottling is from Campania. This bottle is 2020 vintage and drinking very well right now considering we spent about $17. Some raspberry fruit up front, dry with compact tannins. Smooth and easy-drinking. Great option for pizza and other southern Italian classics. **e **e **epairing

We opened this bottle for a Sunday dinner last night of fettuccine Bolognese. A rosso di Montalcino bottling like this represents great value in the current market. We paid $21 for this on the shelf at a local store in Bergen County. Rosso di Montalcino is 100% Sangiovese Grosso, like it’s older sibling, Brunello. The difference is that the rosso bottlings are not required to age as long in barrel as Brunello. The versatility this w**e displays is excellent for the North Jersey dining scene filled with BYOB restaurants. The 2022 Camigliano Rosso di Montalcino showed notes of sour cherry, cedar, and forest floor. Focused Tannins provide a great balance between the fruit and 14.5% ABV. **e **e **econsultant #201
