Goodness, it really doesn't get much sweeter than this little guy!
It's not a secret children are on my top favorite things to photograph.š
Where have I been?
I don't even know... but I'm still here!
And to my surprise, summer finally did arrive.
Back in May, I wasn't so sure... but we have been enjoying these hot, care-free days and taking full advantage of the season. I even let the kids hop out of the pool and stop the ice-cream man the other day and for some reason that took our summertime up a notch. (I can see some of you twitching from the ice cream story haha.)
And now, after a few weeks of heat, I'm dreaming about Fall photo shoots.
I know I'm not the only one that has a hard time sitting still.
Ironically, I was thinking of all the books I've read this year and realized they have unintentionally been geared straight to the heart of my need for speed.
I'm thinking the theme of 2022 for me is to
S L O W D O W N.
I can relay the message I feel like is being sent directly to me from God: Embrace the mundane - learn to do it very well.
You know, the mundane sure doesn't look glamorous, but it's made of the very things that end up mattering.
My morning devotions, being active, what I consume mentally AND physically, how much time I spend investing in my family, where I spent my money... no entertaining elements here!
But goodness, do they sure add up to whether your life is full or empty.
So I said all that to say, I'm still here with my camera in tow!
I just hope I'm learning to set my eye to a slower shutter speed and a wider angle. I don't want to miss a thing.
This session came right in time to celebrate Mother's Day week and as much as I wanted to save it for the day of, I couldn't wait to share these photos!
And ya'll, these girls were a dream to photograph. I hardly even told them how to pose.
One thing is for sure, they sure are blessed to have this beautiful lady for a mama.
I love to meet happy people.
It seems to becoming a rare emotion.
This girl was so fun and sweet, but what was most appealing was her laugh. It was so genuine and sincere.
And I was relieved to see you can be happy in 2022.
There's a time for everything, but I don't want to look back and see that life's frustrations, disappointments, and chaos robbed me of counting my blessings.
It'll take focusing on all that is right instead of all that is wrong. It'll take turning off media and freeing your mind of negative distractions.
It'll take less comparing and more self awareness.
It will take embracing that life isn't always perfect but it's not thicker skin that I'm seeking, rather a good perspective and an unwavering sense of purpose.
A week or so ago these barren trees started blooming clusters of little white flowers. They're beautiful and scattered all around the city. Does anyone know what they're called?
It's crazy because we have a lot in our neighborhood that are already exchanging flowers for bright green leaves. I was pretty bummed knowing with how full the schedule was I probably wouldn't be able to capture them blooming this year.
However, on the way to the grocery store this morning I took a wrong turn and lo and behold, a big field peppered with these quick changing trees. I felt like a tourist wanting my camera. I decided that today was my only flexible day this week, lighting wasn't going to get better, the rain wasn't going to let up, and my sick toddler wasn't going to stop me.
So there we were and here we are.
Have you ever done something super inconvenient knowing that it'd make your life fuller?
If you have, that's good because that means you are going places and going to have a lot to show for it.
I'm also thankful that wrong turns can turn into little treasures.
The older I get, the more I realize that good pictures are priceless.
It's not about portraying perfection, it's about being present.
If you knew what the next couple of months looked like for them, you'd understand why capturing time was so valuable for this BEAUTIFUL family. Honored I got do just that!
I got to meet one of the sweetest faces on Thursday!
Wrapping up this precious gallery today. I love baby snuggles as much as I love editing their pictures.
Oklahoma decided to save us a day in Febraury that wouldn't be miserably cold and we caught it just in time to have a beautiful Mother/Daughter photo shoot.
There are some people that you connect with, but then there are those you know God put in your life on purpose. I've been wanting to shoot here since we moved and these fun gals did not disappoint!

Sometimes the best locations are in your parentās front yard.
The fireplace is quietly burning, food prep is going on in the kitchen for tomorrow, and there's finally silence after a full days worth of cousin squeals and laughter.
I love the Thanksgiving holiday.
For years now, I have thanked God especially for you.
You who have booked a session, commented kind words, and kept encouraging me to grow.
When I thought the transition in moving states would completely set me back, I was overwhelmed with the support I found. And I am so, so thankful!
So as you set your tables and fill your plates, may you count every blessing and know there is so much more good than what often seen.
Happy Thanksgiving!
I'm so thankful I have the opportunity to be somewhere with all the Fall feels. It was a bit breezy yesterday, but that didn't stifle any amount of beauty with this girl and her senior session!
I can't think of anything more perfect than gifting someone you love pictures of their favorite people. So grateful for the opportunity!
And this family was so much fun. I'll be posting photos from this session for the rest of the week.
I was asked to do promotion photos with our College and Career group at church. Super intimidating with a crowd that large, but I said yes anyways. And what a fun, easy group!
I'm also not angry at all that the sky decided to show out.
If you ever need a little energy boost, get outside your box. You never know the friends you'll make or the experiences that will be formative.
Ok, Oklahoma. I see you with those big open skies, breezy, sweater weather, and gorgeous sunsets!
And this family!! Let me tell you, I could not ask for a better "first fall session in Oklahoma" opportunity.
Gorgeous bride, beautiful day, and stunning view. This wedding was dreamy!
It's been a week since my last post about moving.
Oklahoma sure did welcome us strong with Chiggars from the country's black soil and a nasty experience with COVID. Hope this isn't a for-shadow of the future š.
Not going to lie, it's definitely a week I don't want to experience again!
Thankfully, it didn't keep me down long and I was able to get my first official Oklahoma session under way! So excited for the future Mr. & Mrs. Bell!
BIG NEWS!
The Berridge family has recently been making a transition from Texas to Oklahoma City!
We couldn't be more excited about this great opportunity we are confident God has given us. After years of feeling a shifting in this direction, we have been blown away with how this journey has unfolded for us.
I want to give YOU a huge thanks for all the support, shares, likes, and bookings! I know each session has taken my photography a little bit closer to where I want to be.
My heart is so full from all of you who have been faithful in making my business thrive. Over the years, I have had the chance to see some of your families grow up and multiply. I am honored to have been able to capture those memories for you annually.
Though I lack social media updates, I have not been shorted by keeping busy this year and I'm beyond grateful!!
While I am going to miss my Texas community, I am so excited to start this new journey in OKC.
I have already been scouting the Arbuckle Mountains, the downtown cityscape, and some of the gorgeous creeks and lakes southern Oklahoma has to offer.
So if you live in the Southern Oklahoma -
For every recommendation you make that books a session, you will be entered to win a free mini session in November 2021!
(Announcement will be made mid September, just make sure they let me know who sent them.)
As I grow up, I find myself doing a lot less "fun" and a lot more "work".
I spent the last eight years hanging out with people over a decade younger than myself. I am starting to see a trend where we start adulting and forget how to live life to the fullest.
When I'm 80 years old, sitting on that rocking chair overlooking the mountains with My Sweet Husband, what I don't want to do is find a scrapbook of memories in the files of my brain that bore me. I don't want to see only pictures of me sitting at a computer, scrolling through a phone, or trying to keep a house spotless. I hope I put in the effort to accomplish great things, but I hope I do a lot more to cultivate valuable relationships since that's what really lasts.
Some of us may not want to clean up paint stains and latex balloons, but I'm certain if you start small you'll thank yourself when the party is over.
And if you do something fun, feel free to include me in those memories so you can share them with those you love for years to come.
You can wish for a better tomorrow or you can make today count. Either way, your future will reflect what you put into today.
I've been so excited about this couple's ten-year wedding anniversary photos ever since I was asked to do them months ago.
The night before the photos, we drove around to find the perfect location. I wanted these to be extra special. Do you know what I said?
"I really was hoping for a field of wildflowers in the sunset."
But no flowers in sight, much less an open field.
After finding a couple of good options we called it a night, but it just didn't feel "perfect". The next day we set out to scout one more place.
We pulled into the park and walked the trail. There in the middle of the field was a lot of blooming wildflowers.
I'm 100% they were just for me... don't try to convince me otherwise!
If you're in pursuit of a dream, don't settle for mediocre. God has a plan for you that can take your breath away if you allow Him to lead you. You might not get it on the first try. It may take more effort than you expected. But if you stay in pursuit of Him, He will lead you to where you want to be.
Sarah, I hope these are just as special to you as they are to me!
Happy Motherās Day weekend to every mama reading this!
A mama's role is so important.
Keep striving to be the best version of YOU, that's all your family needs you to be. You are so valuable! There's no one that can do YOUR job just like you.
And great news Fathers!! If youāre having a hard time thinking of the perfect gift, it's not too late!
I can promise you sheād love a photo shoot! Message me for details.
The spring flowers are starting to be a little less vibrant in this part of Texas, but that doesn't mean the fields are any less beautiful. It just means we get a little bit longer of that beautiful golden light.
Take time for the picture, take time to laugh.
What matters in the end is that the memories we made are worth remembering.
Hope your weekend is as special and sweet as this little girl!
